a special spread for sunghwan’s 50th—‘ji cheon myeong’ (지천명) in korean philosophy, the age when one begins to see and understand the sky more clearly. every dish was stacked high, reaching upward in both form and meaning. it reminded me once again how much i genuinely love sharing stories through food—ideas you can feel and taste.

- a cocktail shrimp cake tower draped in rice paper with a side of cho-gochujang sauce
- deconstructed bibimbap stack on a bed of oven-roasted crispy rice
- dill and pea potato salad hill
- woodear mushroom salad in yuzu ponzu dressing
- a pile of watermelon salad
— all shared with fifty or so friends.

big thanks to minsun, david, sungyoon, sunmoon, and howon for co-creating this gathering - and to stella and jacob for so generously opening up their space. as many of you already know - i just love cooking for people :) if you have a fun project in mind where food becomes a way to creatively and visually tell a story - i’m ALL ears. would love to keep growing this as a side project.
