The Great Ocean Road Ultra 60km 6:07:28  ā›°ļø

Couldn’t be happier with this run, what a course!! Running on the Great Ocean Road, rolling hills, little towns in valleys, cliff faces, beaches, dolphins! But omg the first hill on the ultra trail is an absolute monster. 5kms to the top. The hardest thing I’ve ever run up, it should be its own eventšŸ˜‚šŸ˜‚ Great camaraderie out there on course. Felt great throughout my training thanks to my running coach @largieruns Super proud of my body šŸ’Ŗ Placed 9/16 females taken in Lorne by @jinxdj_

When an old work friendship turns into a booking 🄰 The couple entrusted me with a recording of their vows which I played over José González ā€œHeartbeatsā€ and cued on their arrival at the reception. It was such a beautiful touch to kick off the night of speeches, dancing and love. @munrovertime @sar_c #weddingdj #weddingdjsydney #sydneydj #sydneyweddingdj #djsydney taken in The Vanguard by @jinxdj_

Bondi to Manly Ultra 80kms  šŸ”ļøā€‰

Struggling to put this experience into words. It was so hard šŸ˜… very grateful for the epic support crewing from Ben, running into my fellow training buddies out there, shared a good hour on the tar with Loz, a few kms talking about life and fruit with Dee. But from 40kms it was pure grind. Entered ā€œthe pain caveā€ and somehow got my way out. I didn’t quit despite my legs screaming and my heart yelling ā€œthis was supposed to be fun!ā€ Very proud of myself that I pushed through, kept the legs ticking and managed to find the joy and humour in moments which at time felt ridiculous. And hey there were some incredible lookouts along the way. The supporters, volunteers and fellow ultra runners out there are amazing. We are all warriors! 11 hours 10 mins and 94,199 steps later, I’m very proud to say I’m an Ultra runner! šŸ„‡@bonditomanlyultra by @jinxdj_

Sydney Marathon PB 3:56:32⁣⁣ šŸ„‡ā£
⁣⁣⁣
I went into this marathon quite optimistic to run 5:30-5:35 pace. I’ve been training for the Bondi to Manly Ultra since June (coming late Oct!) and haven’t really been focused on marathon pace/speed, but I felt like I had the pace in me!⁣⁣⁣
⁣⁣⁣
Had an epic start, saw @kipchogeeliud and @brett_robinson23 on College St, knew it was going to be a great run! The Fox Footy anthem came on my playlist as I passed the SCG. IYKYK. What a tune!!! Everything hurt from about 20kms but pain is temporaryā¤ļø The crowd is EPIC!!⁣⁣⁣
Very happy with my run, obsessed with my splits, amazing day🫶⁣

Faces of Salt - Kat Camrass

My ocean journey started when I moved to Bondi during COVID 2020.

Every morning I noticed swimming groups with different coloured swim caps depending on the day; pink, white, yellow… The yellow group on Fridays was the biggest. I soon discovered this was the Bondi Salties.

I wasn’t much of a swimmer to begin with, but week by week I progressed from getting out behind the break, to the Pavilion, and finally end to end. I loved the community that I was discovering every Friday morning; happy, friendly, excitable swimmers who loved that little rush before work as much as I did.

I’ll never forget my first jellyfish invasion, swimming through hundreds of big orange jellyfish in the south end. I didn’t know they were relatively harmless, so I was totally freaked out, ducking and dodging like super Mario.

The Saturday swims were a game changer for me. I couldn’t believe people swam from Bondi to Bronte (even further!!). After many bay swims and feeling confident with the distance, I gave it a go.

The stretch between Tama and Bronte is my favourite. I always stop and turn around, soaking in the view of the rocks before full speed into Bronte.

Watching the sunrise with hundreds of other people in the ocean is truly magical. But at the same time, I love the not-so-easy-to-wake-up Fridays where it’s wet, it’s windy and we’re huddled up at the picnic tables wondering are we really going to do this? Those swims are exhilarating and they make me so appreciative of this community, who bring the good vibes no matter the conditions.

I’m so grateful of the Bondi Salties as it’s made me fall in love with ocean swimming, enabled me to be a part of an amazing local community and make some awesome Saltie mates.

You never regret a swim šŸ¦€ by @jinxdj_
