Admist the ongoing raids this week, learning how to identify ICE can aid in being able to safely avoid them and provide accurate reports.

We must not do the work for ICE by spreading inaccurate information that causes unnecessary panic in the community. It is important to report responsibly and share verified information in order to be organized and help communities best protect themselves.

ICE is torturing the 500+ people on hunger and labor strike since Oct 6 at the Folkston concentration camp in Georgia.
ㅤ
Over a week without food, all while enduring torture.
ㅤ
(TAKE ACTION at bottom of post)

According to @shutdownfipc, the strikers' demands include:
ㅤ
-Immediate release
-Due process
-Stop abusive treatment
ㅤ
These asylum seekers, some of whom have been trapped inside for over two years, have been denied due process and are not criminals.
ㅤ
They have a right to protection from prosecution abroad that is enshrined in US law.
ㅤ
Their rights to dignity, protection from cruel and unusual punishment, and due process are all being violated.
ㅤ
ICE is retaliating through:
ㅤ
- Sleep deprivation (a form of torture under international law)
ㅤ
- Unlawful solitary confinement, lasting at least 2 months for at least 30 strikers (solitary for over 15 days is a form of torture under international law). The solitary unit is now completely full. At least three people have fallen unconscious while in solitary.
ㅤ
Conditions inside also include:
ㅤ
Abusive treatment. Humiliation. Shouting. Threats. Deprival of basic human needs. Sending people to the unit for people with criminal records, hampering their chances in court, without cause.
ㅤ
Medical neglect (One asylum seeker was told, "I have no obligation to treat you; the only thing that matters to me is that you don't drop dead.") No emergency buttons. No dentist -- people have merely been put on painkillers for YEARS instead of treatment.
ㅤ
Leaking ceilings. Mold, including on mattresses. Constant darkness. No sunlight.
ㅤ
People have been told to drink toilet water.
ㅤ
Each week, they only get ONE hot shower and ONE hour of fresh air.
ㅤ
Food lacks nutrition and is spoiled. People are denied medically necessary special diets.
ㅤ
Air conditioning is left on full blast or not at all, leaving people freezing or struggling to breathe.
ㅤ
Spouses held at separate camps are not allowed to communicate.
ㅤ
Commissary items are stolen for no reason.
ㅤ
One of the leaders was deported without due process in an act of retaliation.
ㅤ

At least 500 detainees at Folkston ICE Detention Center are in an active hunger strike due to inhumane conditions. The Middle Georgia DSA is asking you to join us this Sunday to end this abusive treatment. Our caravan will depart from the Perry Chamber of Commerce by 9:15 am for a 1pm rally at Folkston. 📢📢

Hunger strikers at the Folkston ICE Processing Center have now been on strike since last Tuesday, October 6th. At least 30 people are now facing two months in solitary confinement in retaliation. We MUST continue to amplify the demands of the strikers and demand their immediate release!

‼️Advocates sent a letter to ICE condemning retaliation against hunger strikers‼️ Over 500 people detained inside Folkston are estimated to be on hunger strike, and ICE and GEO Group are retaliating against them! At least 30 people have been placed in solitary confinement, people’s phone and tablet access inside has been cut off, outside advocates have had messaging access terminated, and ICE has transferred one of the lead hunger strike organizers, Idris Makhmudov of Russia, to the Alexandria detention center, suggesting his deportation may be imminent. ICE RETALIATION IS A VIOLATION OF THE FIRST AMENDMENT. We demand that ICE release people from solitary confinement immediately! SHUT DOWN FOLKSTON AND ALL DETENTION CENTERS! We’ve heard time and time again about the deplorable conditions at Folkston ICE Processing Center. Detainees have managed to show video of dead animals rotting for months in their cells. Medical neglect, insufficient and unsafe food, and unsanitary conditions are the norm at this GEO Group’s hyper-profitable torture machine.

Now, at least 500 detainees are hunger striking to demand better conditions, and YOU can support them by joining JIRA’s caravan from Jacksonville to Folkston! The strikers demand an end to abusive treatment, the right to due process, and immediate release. We support these demands and further call for a TOTAL SHUTDOWN of Folkston ICE Processing Center!

Una y otra vez sale información sobre las condiciones vergonzosas del Centro de Procesamiento de ICE en Folkston. Los detenidos lograron mostrar video de animales muertos pudriéndose durante meses en sus celdas. La negligencia médica, comida malsana e insuficiente y condiciones insalubres son la norma para esta máquina de tortura, una máquina híper lucrativa para la compañía GEO Group que la maneja.

Ahora, un mínimo de 500 inmigrantes detenidos están en huelga de hambre para demandar mejores condiciones, y TÚ los puedes apoyar en unirte a la caravana de JIRA desde Jacksonville a Folkston.
