12 HOURS LEFT: JI TANZER

The amount of times I had to do this video.

I couldn’t make it through without crying. This isn’t the best take but at least I made it.

@jitanzer and I have spent half of our lives working and making art together and it is the very best thing in the world EVER. His gifts can be heard and felt throughout Shadow Work, from his killer drums, to how good my vocal takes turned out when I was too exhausted to have perspective, to the unseen lift of childcare and the deep work of moral support through the long stretches of uncertainty.

Shadow Work, and indeed any creative endeavor I’ve undertaken, would not be possible without the support of Ji.

In the words of Ella Mai,
“Get you one of these”

Shadow Work is out now on @portlandjazzcomposers records!

WE’RE IN HAIL MARY TERRITORY HERE - please support the community of musicians and artists that contributed to Shadow Work!

KICKSTARTER LINKED IN BIO

Such a unique pleasure to be both participant and recipient of little glimpses into the divine and absurd. Thank you @markortonmusic @hollywoodtheatr and the sweet cast of thousands. Special mention to my fellow Perc-babes @_andrew.borger_ and @theerachelblumberg for doing G-D’s work so effortlessly and presently. by @jitanzer

Happy Birthday, Dad! Your humor was deep and infectious. Not a day goes by that I don’t thank my lucky stars that I had a childhood steeped in Dylan, Ochs, Joni, Kweskin, the Farinas, Weavers, Beatles, Beach Boys, Who, Mance Lipscomb, Leadbelly, Lightnin’ Hopkins, Stones, Del Shannon, Dion, Buddy Holly, Everlys…it was always quite the MIX. And you didn’t bat a lash when started bringing home Motley Crue, Ratt, and WASP cassettes at 12 years old. You were THE BEST! by @jitanzer
