What happens when the brief is open ended and a designer is given full freedom to create?

During WNWN @nydc, we launched Unbound: Visions - a capsule collection which brought together five renowned designers with their distinct creative voices to move beyond the expected.

@designerjamiedrake, @nicolefullerinteriors, James Hunter @the_wiseman_group, @francis_nicdao @pembrookeandives and @jiunhoinc - each translated an idea into a one of a kind piece, created in collaboration with @lalacurio.

No prescribed answer. No familiar formula. Just collaboration, craft, and the possibility of seeing things differently.

Jiun Ho Interiors

A room where utility becomes part of the composition. Rows of glass, dark wood, collected vessels, and a table set within it all give the space a certain intimacy.
Nothing feels hidden away. Everything belongs to the story of how the room is used. by @jiunhoinc

Inspiration for the Baja Collection gathers in fragments. Shells, stone, sea glass, volcanic textures, and a single cactus paddle. Each one carries its own surface, weight, and memory.
Look closely enough, and the landscape begins to design the collection.

Okay, so give me a new caption for that one.
There is something wonderfully unexpected about the Oaxaca Ottoman.

Its natural fiber comes from agave byproducts left after the juice is extracted, paired with leather rope and an upholstered seat. Rooted in the heritage and craft of Oaxaca, it turns an everyday material into something sculptural, tactile, and entirely surprising. by @jiunhoinc

Lucero in Achiote, from the Yucatán Collection.

A little glow. A little depth. Lucero catches the light with a soft sheen and subtle strié, giving even a simple drape a sense of movement. Rich without feeling heavy, it brings warmth to the room in the most effortless way.

The Vichy Sconce holds the light like an object discovered. Alabaster softens the glow, while the sculpted metal backplate gives it weight and presence. A little mysterious. A little luminous. Entirely its own.

Saguaro from the new Baja Collection.

A landscape remembered in pattern. Cactus forms drift in and out of view, softened into something almost painterly. A textile that carries the desert with it, without ever telling the whole story.

A beautiful moment for Unbound: Visions.

@businessofhome named the collection among The Best Debuts from What’s New, What’s Next, featuring Jamie Drake’s @designerjamiedrake one of a kind Paravent cabinet. Hand painted and created as part of the limited edition collaboration with @lalacurio, the piece captures what Unbound was always meant to invite: a singular idea, given the freedom to become something entirely its own.
