Sunday night we had to say goodbye to our best friend Jake. Our Lil Dog was truly one of a kind and lived an incredible 19 long years.

It’s a comfort that for the last six months, he got to live almost a second, more adventurous life. We started taking him everywhere—four different states and multiple camping trips. He got to see and experience so much toward the end, and we’ll always appreciate those memories.

We had so many nicknames for him, like Scraps, Peter Dater Doo, Lil Bug, Lil Dog, and Jakey Boy. Thank you Lil Bug, for all the joy, the laughs, and the great company you kept throughout my childhood and adulthood. I know you’re resting up there in heaven. Until I see you again ❤️ by @jjgenutis

Kitty (Reese), a Christmas gift from my mom 8 1/2 years ago, was an absolute legend. He started as an outdoor explorer, fearlessly charting his territory, but turned into an indoor only cat about halfway through his life after a nearly fatal incident with a wild animal. It was incredible how this adventurous and wild guy was also the most affectionate pet, often acting more like a lap dog than a cat. He was incredibly photogenic and just calling his name would send him running for pets and cuddles. We had countless unforgettable moments with him, and it’s heartbreaking that our time together was cut short. He passed away unexpectedly a couple days ago, leaving a void, but our memories with him will live on. You will be truly missed Kitty. by @jjgenutis

I’d have to say this trip was the best trip I’ve ever been on…

We got to visit Chattanooga, TN - where we will be getting married next year, added a check to my bucket list by going to the Smoky Mountains, got to live out my tattoo of me sitting in a hammock looking at the mountains, and got to hit New River Gorge National Park on the way home.

These type of memories are what life is all about 🌲🌅🏞️ taken in Great Smoky Mountains National Park by @jjgenutis
