Pleased to welcome JJ Harper (@jjharperrr) to DML Ltd.! A three-time All-Conference performer at the D-II level with Concord and West Liberty, JJ moved up to Liberty and Conference USA for the 2025-26 season, and he had a remarkable year that just gets more and more remarkable the more you unpack it.

First, JJ was absolutely instrumental in the Flames going 26-8, winning the C-USA regular season, and advancing to the Round of 16 in the NIT. Next, he averaged 11 PPG, 3 RPG, 2 APG, and 2.5 ‘Stocks’ (steals + blocks) per game, while shooting 59% FG and 38% 3-FG. Shooting 59% FG as a starter and 6’5”, steady-usage wing is basically unheard of from an efficiency standpoint, and when all his numbers are crunched, JJ had a 69% true shooting percentage and a 66% effective FG percentage in ‘25-26. For context, any true shooting percentage over 64% is ‘elite’ and any effective FG percentage over 60% is ‘elite.’ JJ obviously blew right past both, and usually only rim-running 7’0’’ centers ever finish with figures that high over the course of an entire season.

And, wait - as promised, it gets better: JJ actually received more accolades for his defensive prowess than anything he did on the offensive end, despite his historically efficient scoring numbers. JJ was named to the Conference USA’s All-Defensive Team (just the second player *in Liberty’s history* to do so) and was also named as a finalist for the Lefty Driesell Award, which is given every year to the top defensive player *in all of Division I college basketball.*

So, just tallying things up here on JJ: winner ✅, historically efficient shooter and scorer ✅, top-25 defender in the entire country ✅.

Quite a year, and quite a future. by @jjharperrr
