I was supposed to post something like this in 2020, but the world had other plans. NOW I’m THRILLED to FINALLY announce that the musical I wrote with @sammysamsalmond , EIGHTY-SIXED, will make it’s World Premiere in Spring 2022! The road to getting a musical on its feet is excruciatingly long, complicated, and expensive. I’m grateful for development from @mtfmusicals and the leadership of @aaronmg1 and the collaborators he brought to our side like director @kevinnewbury and choreographer Raja Feather Kelly. I started adapting David B. Feinberg’s celebrated novel in 2008 (first as a screenplay and then as a play before realizing it could sing). It was the first piece of media that really connected me to the AIDS crisis and, if you know me, exploring that history and its impact has been my passion ever since. We couldn’t have found a better partner than @diversionarysd in San Diego, whose youth, elder, and community outreach will expand that passion into the hearts and minds of many more people. ❤️🧡💛💚💙💜 by @jjkingwrites

Writers need headshots too/a rare photo of me in a shirt without demonic special effects or my Sensitive Gay Boy Stare™

Shoutout to photo wizard @patrickdonovanstudios for this stellar snap (and for color correcting my rosacea flare☺️). You should book him! taken in New York, New York by @jjkingwrites
