“All shall know, the wonder of Purple Summer”

Living in Ernst’s shoes this summer has been an absolute dream. I’ve spent the entire day trying to come up with words that adequately express what this process and show has meant to me, but in all honesty, this show has changed my life. In a time where I felt alone, this show has brought light back into my life. And that’s mainly due to the people in this cast, the creative team who helped us put on a spectacularly beautiful and joyous show, and the character I played. This shy, gay, and introverted character is so close to my heart now because I relate to him so much. Bringing this show to a community I was graciously accepted in years ago feels completely full circle, and has lit a fire inside of me I thought went out. I love creating art with people who know how to tell such beautiful stories with such care and dedication, singing alongside some of the most kind and genuinely amazing individuals I have ever met, and tripping over those damn pallets every night (I had to).

I cannot adequately express what this show has meant to me, but to quote the best scene partner I could have asked for…

“When we look back, thirty years from now, tonight will seem unbelievably…beautiful.”

Thank you all for an incredible Purple Summer, and it’s not goodbye, but see you later 💜

My dad passed away on September 9, 2025, in the early morning, surrounded by friends, family, and caregivers who loved and cherished him. The amount of love that came and left through that door could give him another 30 years alone, and that’s just a testament to the person he was. He could be strange, loud, inappropriate at times and stubborn, but he also loved fiercely, was amazing with kids, and always cracking a joke and always so funny.

My favorite story to tell is when he gifted me a Buzz Light Year fishing rod when I was probably in my teens. I felt like I was too old at the time and margaret also told me I didn’t have to use it. But when I did use it once fishing, he had the biggest smile.

He taught me to always have a childlike wonder, how to learn the words to any song and retain them(because it seemed like he knew all of them), and showed me the secret to good bowling. Although, I never was as good as him, Mr. 300 perfect score.

I could rant for hours about the things I loved about him and tell story after story until my stomach aches from laughing and my face hurts from smiling.

I want him to be waking me and my brother up on Christmas morning at 5 am because he woke up at that time and just could not for the life of him just stay in bed. I want him to tell me another joke and laugh more than I do at the punch line. I wanna see him be stubborn again and INSIST that he didn’t just have that cigarette and could for sure have another one.

The past few days have been incredibly difficult and painful to navigate, but having my family and my partner there to help me through it and to swap stories about dad and share the love has helped immensely. I’ve cherished sharing stubborn moments, funny jokes and more. I just honestly can’t believe he’s gone, and I can’t believe I won’t have my dad anymore.

Yet I know he’s not suffering anymore, and his pain is over. I’ll cherish every moment I’ve had with him and will forever love him and his crazy self. Thank you dad for teaching me to stand out, not care about anyone, and to never grow up. Love you to the moon and back. Love you forever and always dad. by @jjmharper

25 was a year of theatre, creativity, love, struggle, and many more, but I couldn’t be more thankful for every moment. To anyone who made my “Quarter” year special, you have a place in my heart. Into the woods has been an absolute dream. I’ve quite a history with the show but never in my life did I imagine myself as The Baker until @zachstolz called and said “yes I AM serious.” This has been an emotionally and mentally challenging role that I have absolutely cherished living in the last three weekends with a cast of people who love telling this story just as much as I do. Under Zach’s direction we took the story of Into the Woods to Appalachia and told a unique and beautiful story on loss, found family, and stories.

This character will live with me for a while and I can’t thank everyone who supported me, lifted me up, helped me when I fumbled the golden egg on stage (IM SO SORRY @delaneycirce IT WILL LIVE WITH ME FOREVER), and helped in every aspect of this show to make it what it was; magical 🥰

This is one of those once in a lifetime shows and I’m so so glad I was apart of it ❤️🌲❤️ by @jjmharper

Head Over Heels, the sequel 👠
I’m so sad that this show has ended but am so thankful and grateful I got to perform this show again, just this time under completely different circumstances ❤️ I’ve loved stepping into the world of Musidorus/Cleophila so much. For sure one of my most challenging roles I’ve gotten to play vocally and acting wise, and I’ve loved every minute of it.
I’ve enjoyed gracing the stage with a group of kind, talented, and superb human beings.🥰 So immensely proud of all the work the cast, crew, and everyone in between put into this show. It’s also a special one because it’s the first show since the pandemic that Javaron and I have been able to perform together in, and words cannot express how fulfilling it is to do a queer show with the love of your life ❤️ Love you oh so much babe 😘 I Love you all from the bottom of my heart and I can only hope to return to Arcadia (or anywhere else really) again with you all ❤️ WE’VE GOT THE BEAT 🥁💗 taken in Marietta Theatre Company by @jjmharper

// while I have been sick in bed this week, last week I closed The Rocky Horror Show at @woodstockgaarts, and to say I’m feeling under the weather to not be performing as Riff Raff again is an understatement. I am thoroughly grateful to the entire cast and crew and everyone in between who helped get this show running. Additional thanks to @zachstolz our fearless director for taking on this mountain of a show!
