Not the post we wanted to make 😅

After getting the @haltech ECU & PDM wired up, we took the car to @961.motorsport for dyno time, with @tunehappy handling the tune.

Going in, it looked promising. It held temp, idled great on the base tune, and compression and leakdown both checked out. @saltybeast had previously rerouted the catch can to deal with some crankcase pressure and blowby and figured we were in good shape.

The dyno told us otherwise. The car smoked heavily, the dipstick popped up multiple times, and it only made a measly 280hp on 91.

Now Ian and I are sending the motor to @flagmotorsports for a full rebuild and working out a better breather solution.

The electronics we installed recently had no issues, but unfortunately the car is back at the shop for major surgery once more.

2nd Time Attack

My fastest lap 1:47 at @weathertechraceway Laguna Seca. just like at Willow Springs, I had to make up time in the last track session to secure a podium spot. Talk about a tight fit! 😅

@saltybeast’s LS E30 was in serious need of an intake revision. The old silicone 90 was barely hanging onto the throttle body, so we replaced it with a tight aluminum 90 that @spec_fab welded directly to the throttle body.

We also had to trim the throttle body to make it fit, otherwise it would’ve hit the radiator. The LS6 intake is extra long, which is a big part of why this setup took more work. Swipe to see how it all came together ➡️

@streethunterdesigns V2 Wing installed on @cathyvcao ‘s GR Supra 🔥

This wing looks incredible from every angle and completely changes the look of the car.

Paintwork handled by our neighbors @blackmountaincollision as our own paint booth is still waiting to be permitted. We are hopefully getting it operational soon, so stay tuned!

The LS E30 is ALIVE!

After a full Haltech Nexus Rebel LS + PD16 wiring setup, we finally got this thing running. From wiring the entire car through the PD16 to getting the LS1 communicating with the Haltech system, there’s been a lot of work behind the scenes to get this car operational again.

Next thing on the list is getting a tune, mounting the expansion tank, cleaning up the intake, and finishing up the small details on the interior. If all goes well, maybe it can be taken to the track before the end of the year 👀

@n0tracecar came back to the shop with another big project. We installed a @kaazusaofficial 1.5-way LSD in his E153, a @wilhelmraceworks trans cooler, and a @cantonracingproducts 3-quart Accusump.

The goal with these upgrades is to improve reliability under track use while making the car more predictable through the corners. The LSD should help with traction and cornering behavior, while the trans cooler and Accusump will help keep fluid temperatures and oil pressure under control.

Removing factory sound deadening on the MR2 using dry ice!

We first tried using heat, but it left behind a sticky adhesive that would have taken much longer to clean up. Instead, we switched to dry ice, which made the material brittle so it popped off cleanly with minimal residue.

The added cost of dry ice is well worth it. It saves a significant amount of prep time by leaving a much cleaner surface, so we can move on to caging and painting the chassis instead of spending more time and material removing adhesive residue.

30+ year old A/C lines leaking? No problem.

We’ve been working with a hose specialist who rebuilds the factory MR2 A/C lines using new barrier hose and fresh crimps while retaining the original hard lines. The quality has been excellent, and they’ve been fitting perfectly every time.

Full sparco interior for @nc.carrie! We installed a used Sparco bucket seat with PCI seat mounts and sliders and it fits perfectly. Now she’s ready for another track day and not be thrown around like she used to in the stock seat.

Scans are complete and have been sent to @cagekits for a fully CNC-cut and CNC-bent roll cage!

From day one, our goal has been to expand the aftermarket support for the SW20 MR2 and prove just how capable this chassis can be. Building our flagship SW20 race car has given us the opportunity to collaborate with some incredible people and companies who share the same vision.

A huge thank you to @epsilonaero for not only handling the 3D scanning, but also agreeing to help us develop some cool parts to be announced and making this scan available to buy for others to work on.

The first step to building quality parts is accurate data.

With the help of @epsilonaero / @illumaesthetic, we completed a full 3D scan of @mr2_joseph ‘s SW20 MR2, capturing both the interior and exterior to begin development on products for the MR2 community.

This is just the beginning. Follow along as we go through the process of making this MR2 the race car its supposed to be.

Ruined a perfectly nice MR2 for racecar reasons. 😅

The teardown continues—now we’re stripping the body harness down to the bare essentials. Every accessory wire that doesn’t help the car run is coming out. The goal is to keep it as light as possible while still retaining the factory cluster, key, and lights.

Less weight. Less clutter. More racecar. 🏁
