Stand up comedy where the comics bare it all (or at least some) for the jokes!
Portland’s quarterly queer comedy showcase for an adult crowd is back on Monday, September 28 at the Eagle Portland on N Lombard. Incredible comedians are challenged with being vulnerable in whatever state of undress they like, asking the question we all want answered: is a punchline better naked?

Theoretically, these are a few places where my rabid, swollen fan-base can catch me within the next week:

10/15 - Riffing my lil heart out at @tysongusmancomedy’s new weekly show @offthecuffportland at one of this city’s many best basements for comedy @mcmenaminsalsden. It’s a FREE show starting at 7:00PM with a VERY fun lineup.

10/18 - Hosting the next edition of Comic Babies, featuring bite-sized sets from a handful of Portland comedy’s most exciting up-and-coming voices. Show starts at 7:30PM at @fusetheatre.pdx (and this lineup is VERY fun).

10/19 - (POSTPONED) Embracing nostalgia and doing what some critics have deemed “standup comedy” at @aimeecomedy’s lovely lil show @throwbackshowpdx. Show starts at 9:30PM at @21tentheatre and you better believe that this is a VERY fun lineup.

Beyond that, I’m basically unhooked on my birthday week until Saturday, September 26th when I’m (allegedly) booked on my own shows @defiantjoyshow and @sordidbehavior.

To close out the month, I’ll be headlining (naked) at @eagleportland for the next edition of Laugh Your Clothes Off on September 28th, followed by me screaming in a wig for the next round of @houseofdangerwrestling on September 30th.

Come to all of these, some of these, or none of these! I’m not the boss of you, but I think laughter is pretty cool.

1) A weird streak of days full of depression, grief, and extreme ennui, peppered with community and (as insane as it sounds to say this) the tiniest glimmer of hope.

Despite the circumstances, I managed to get out of the house every night, including a set at the @gaggedpdxcomedy mic that may or may not have contained any jokes.

RIP to my cousin Eric

I mean it. This is the one joke that I said I would never post online, out of fear that it might upset my family.

In the process of writing it, I realized that when my cousin passed, I not only grieved him - but I grieved the friendship we once had in our childhood.

There’s an optimistic side of me that believes we could have kept spending summers together, overcoming our differences and continuing to laugh around the fire place.

I’ll never know.

But I *do* know that I spent most of my twenties haunted by the possibility that I was “next” to go.

In college, I had a close call when a drunk driver ran a stop sign and totaled my friends’ car.

I made it through with nothing but a few stitches in my tongue and something not quite (but adjacent to) survivor’s guilt.

It’s not clear why the universe spared me, but I’m happy to still be here. Living life. Being myself. Doing comedy.

And if anyone is upset about this joke, it was just a joke.

Much like what he wrote in my daily planner.

Much like how his father asked me at his funeral, as I was on the verge of tears, “So when are you coming out of the closet?”

And much like all the jokes and memories we shared every summer vacationing on Lake Champlain.

I still love you, cuz, despite it all.
