I’m proud to announce that “You’re IN” will be premiering at an Oscar qualifying festival @lashorts 🙌🏼🎬 We’ve officially been selected! Here are some stills from the film to get ya pumped up to see it🔥This film is SO special to me & I had an absolute blast writing, directing, producing, and editing it💫 After 2 of my friends unexpectedly passed away in 2023, I started thinking a lot about how we choose to live, especially when we’re confronted with the fact that we will all inevitably die one day. “You’re IN” became my way of exploring that sentiment through psychological horror.I can’t wait to finally share this film! In addition to being Academy Award qualifying, LA Shorts is also BAFTA qualifying. Two exciting firsts for me!😁 As always, I couldn’t have done this without my amazing cast & crew! My Coming Out story🏳️‍🌈 Recreated for AAPI Heritage Month + Mother’s Day❤️When I was 24, I “came out” to my parents as lesbian via group text😅 I was terrified. My dad replied instantly with support, but my mom didn’t reply & didn’t speak to me at all for a few months. It broke my heart to think she didn’t support me. But later that year, I went home for the holidays to an unexpected surprise. My mom said, “I was thinking of you when I was out. Got you some clothes. They’re in your room”. Upon walking into my childhood bedroom, a pair of RAINBOW pajamas was waiting for me on the bed. Though my mom never spoke of it, I knew it was her way of saying that she loved & accepted me🥰Asian cultures don’t typically show affection the same way as other cultures. Instead of saying, “I love you”, we cook for each other. Instead of a big hug, we often embrace each other with a soft glance & smile. While this gesture of rainbow pajamas may not seem like much, it meant the world to me & I know it took a lot of courage/resilience for my mom to do it✨HUGE thank you to my incredible cast & crew for helping me bring this true story to life! This is, by far, the most personal piece that I’ve ever created.
