WORKSHOP FUN! Here are a few images from Collage: An Added Dimension with John Massy over the weekend... lots of fun, laughs and making collages. Thanks so much to @hey_harriet for gifting our participants with a FREE collage pack - hopefully you can see a few of your treasures included here!

Our workshops are a wonderful way to learn a new skill - or build on skills you already have - in a small group environment. The majority are beginner friendly and cover a variety of topics including papercraft, jewellery making, leatherwork, painting & drawing, enamelling and more! Our Teaching Artisans are generous with knowledge and love to share their skills and expertise.

Some stories circle back at exactly the right moment. Today, one of those stories walked through the gallery door.

A few years ago, Deb was teaching a therapeutic art course where she met a woman whose creativity was just beginning to unfurl. They grew close, as you do when art becomes a lifeline.

Then, during last year’s Samford Arts Trail, that same woman arrived unannounced at the gallery. She told Deb that those classes had inspired her to keep painting, and, in true Deb fashion, there were happy tears.

Today, she returned again. This time, she stood in front of John Massy’s - @jkmassy - black‑and‑white collage “Entangled”. Something in it spoke to her. She didn’t just want it, she *needed* it. And yes … there were more happy tears from Deb.

Because that’s what Deb’s Good Egg Gallery is really about. Not transactions - connections. Deb’s passion is to ignite that mysterious spark when a piece of art articulates a feeling the viewer hasn’t yet found the words for.

So today we celebrate a beautiful full‑circle moment: A purchaser who found the artwork that understood her,
an artwork that found its person, a revered local artist, John Massy, whose work continues to move people, and last, but not least, a slightly damp Deb - reunited with an old friend, making another perfect match, and blessing the moment with her trademark tears of joy.

A good day for everyone.
A very Good Egg day.

Local legend John Massy - @jkmassy - doesn’t just make ceramics, he collects, collages, and conjures.

From the smoky surprises of saggar firing to the layered storytelling of collages like “Entanglement,” John’s work is all about transformation.

Saggar firing? It’s like placing your piece in a mini kiln-within-a-kiln, packed with natural materials that burn, fume, and leave their mark. The result? One-of-a-kind textures and patterns that feel elemental.

Come see both John and Karen Massy’s ceramics in person at Good Egg Gallery this weekend, from 10am–3pm.
