So grateful to be invited to fly all over the country to share how I teach and show others the joy we can create in our classrooms.

Making people laugh, getting teachers excited about new tools and ideas, and helping them navigate those moments when things don’t go as planned brings me pure joy.

Teaching takes creativity, patience, heart, and sometimes a little ability to laugh and pivot! I love getting to remind teachers how much magic they bring to their dancers’ lives.

🔥 HOT TAKE: Your competition scores aren’t going to change if your training habits don’t.
You can run the routine another 10 times. Add another private. Clean the choreography again.
But if you’re skipping technique class, not applying corrections, or simply going through the motions when you ARE in class, you’re missing the work that actually makes you a better dancer.
Your teachers can give you the tools. They can push you, correct you, and create opportunities for you.
But they can’t give you a work ethic.
Want better technique? Train for it.
Want more opportunities? Train for them.
Want better results? Change the habits behind them.

My favorite tap dancer of all time is Peg Leg Bates. Every chance I get, I share his story and teach the step I created in his honor.

I also created “The Doors,” inspired by Will Ferrell running through the revolving door in Elf! Inspiration is everywhere, and I love bringing it into the classroom.

Watching my dancers take on a challenge, figure it out, and make it their own is everything. A little history, a little humor, and a whole lot of creativity, that’s my kind of class!

P.S. Change up your music in class! Introduce your dancers to different genres, artists, and rhythms so they learn to listen, hear the music differently, and discover new ways to move. Inspiration lives in the music, too! by @jkstallcup

It’s Halloween time! Pull out your glow sticks, turn down the lights, and practice right and left hands with your dancers. My 3–4-year-olds thought it was the coolest thing ever!

Grab them from the dollar store, add a little glow to class, and send them home with your dancers afterward. Everyone wins! Sometimes a simple change makes the biggest magic.
