Mabel turned 18 this week! How how how is this possible? Whoever said the days are long but the years are short was spot-on. If I close my eyes it seems like yesterday we were in the car and from the backseat a tiny voice piped up with her first word: "Hi!"

Mabel graduated from Seton last week and before we know it she'll be off to college. It's all tremendously exciting and also bittersweet. But gosh, we are so proud of who she is and who she's becoming. Never a dull moment with our sweet, sassy, funny, curious, vocal, outgoing girl. We love her endlessly. ❤️🎂🌈🎉🐈‍⬛️🐈 by @jlarsonhanna

Hand embroidery on vintage photo of my Grandma Vi, my dad's mom. Our Violet is her namesake.

When I was little Grandma Vi lived a block away from us and during the summer I'd walk to her house every day and read Good Housekeeping magazine while she watched her stories. She always had cans of ice-cold Fresca in her basement fridge and when I left she'd give me 50 cents. I loved her so much. ❤️ by @jlarsonhanna

What a magical fucking night!!!! An extraordinary performance by @bridgeteverett and the Tender Moments with my girl @makingchatwithmegmiller . I can't remember ever laughing so much and wow did we all need it. The world may be a smoldering pile of shit but joy is resistance and we resisted our asses off last night.

We had front-row seats thanks to my sweetie @iamdylanhanna and I don't think I can ever see a show any other way. We ran into @crcannon1978 and Jay, always a treat.

And the absolute highlight for me ... of course I made a stitch for Bridget, of her dearly departed and forever adored pup Poppy Louise Mandrell Everett. And because we were sitting so close I was able to HAND IT TO HER and she immediately PUT IT ON HER PIANO. !!!! Please see pics 4 and 5 for photographic evidence. I am now officially a celebrity pet embroidery artist, thank you very much. Commissions are open!!! ❤️🌈🍾 by @jlarsonhanna

Happy birthday to our mom, who would be 84 today. Had she lived, I know she would have been delighted by her grandchildren and absolutely enraged by the state of the world today. Matt and I were so lucky to have her, if only for the shortest time. We will love her forever. ❤️ by @jlarsonhanna

This $2 vase is one of my very favorite thrifted treasures. I look forward every year to filling it with zinnias, black-eyed susans, marigolds, and other flowers from my garden.

Happy golden birthday to our sweet Violet! This past year has been full of extraordinary challenges and she has faced them all with such grace, bravery, and good humor. She still loves a good thrift, has declared this to be the summer of her "Roblox grind" (what does this mean), and is one of the funniest people I know (Grandpa Hyland would be so proud!)
