Ever wonder who’s behind the art? Hello, I’m Juana Lichi (or you can call me Juani) of JLichi Arts, a mixed media and digital artist from sunny Florida. ☀️ Swipe to get to know me more and see some of my artworks (I’m usually shy about sharing, so here we go 😅), and if you’re new here, welcome and nice to meet you! 💕

I’ve always been drawn to patterns, textures, and color, which led me to study fashion design and later work in interior design and marketing. Each experience opened my creative world even more, and I’m truly grateful for it.

My creative journey began with simple curiosity, a lot of experimenting, and the joy of creating from the heart. When my husband gifted me my first iPad, I was loving digital art. Now, I merge these worlds together, creating mixed media artworks and fine art prints, each hand-embellished with gold leaf, embroidery, beading, and a tapestry of mixed materials like wallpaper, scrapbook, and origami papers, magazines, and more. Every piece captures a story, an emotion, or a spark of beauty I’m inspired to share.

Art and creativity have always been an essential part of my life. It gives me balance, peace, and the opportunity to express myself. Crafting, drawing fashion art portraits, flowers, and vibrant pattern-on-pattern designs while sipping my favorite hot coffee in my favorite little cozy corner at home. ☕💫 It’s the little moments that matter!

Hand embroidered fine art print 💙💫☀️🪡 the blackwork embroidery in the background of this beautiful print is complete!

I used DMC Diamant thread in copper and silver to fill in the background of this beautiful print of a digital painting by @jlichiarts. I especially love the boundary where the copper and silver threads meet!

This project was such a fun change from my usual. Juana prints are on this STUNNING cotton canvas fine art paper that feels like a mix between fabric and paper. The texture looks so good! And the material is much less stiff than the photo paper I’m used to. I would still absolutely recommend a project like this to anyone interested!

Now a tough question… do I add a golden starburst on top of the blackwork embroidery? Let me know what you think!

A little GOLD LEAF magic ✨
One of my favorite ways to embellish my artwork is gold leaf gilding. It’s delicate, but the warmth, depth, and shimmer it adds can completely transform a piece. 💛🍁

For my fine art print “Camellia’s Enchanted Blade,” I used the gorgeous green variegated gold leaf from @barnabas_gold , and I LOVE how it gives an elegant, vintage-inspired feel and sparkle. 🌿✨

She has that rich, moody elegance that feels just right for fall. 🍂✨

this ancient technique has been shimmering for 5,000 years, and I love it! ✨✨✨

I fell in love with gold leaf and metal leaf in general the moment I saw Gustav Klimt’s “The Kiss”. He’s a leading artist of the Art Nouveau movement, which is one of my favorite eras. He took a technique from Ancient Egypt, Byzantine art, and Medieval and Renaissance masters, and made it feel fresh and modern. That’s the magic of gilding, it’s history and now, all at once.

interior design gave me a second lens on it too. gilding lives in the classic homes, the eclectic ones, the spaces layering old-world texture with something modern. once you start looking for gold leaf, you find it everywhere.
