With the STUBENHOCKER the iconic Tyrolean chair is reinterpreted within a contemporary context. The starting point is the familiar backrest silhouette, a form that varies slightly from one local workshop to another and is deeply rooted in the traditional Stube. This archetypal shape is deliberately preserved, yet reimagined through a contrasting material language. The design explores the tension between familiarity and disruption. Recognisable proportions meet an unexpected materiality, subtly shifting the perception of an object that is deeply embedded in regional culture. A central ambition of the project was to remove the chair from its original domestic setting and relocate it to the public realm - to bring the traditional Stubenhocker outdoors. Through its material transformation, the chair becomes weather-resistant and suitable for use in urban outdoor environments. production with @schaum__official 🤍 by @jln_brgr
Very happy to share that STUBENHOCKER is part of this year’s VIENNA DESIGN WEEK. The chair, made from blue galvanised steel and produced with amazing SCHAUM OFFICIAL @schaum__official , was selected by curator Connie Hüsser @objectwithlove for FOKUS: The Essence of Lightness, bringing together 36 international design positions exploring lightness through material, construction and atmosphere. Happy to present the piece in Vienna alongside such a great group of designers! From the archive: Design study and spatial proposal for a Viennese burger spot developed in 2024/25. It was ultimately never implemented, but it’s still worth sharing! ☺️ We tried to develop a holistic design concept that unites spatial atmosphere with a distinctive visual identity. Working closely with the talented team - Lukas Köchendorfer, Jan Aimé Fräulin, and Frieder Salzer on the spatial design concept and the furniture, and Nadine Weber on the logo/branding - we created an environment where contemporary materiality meets a colorful dining experience inspired by retro-american dining typologies, uncanny but familiar at the same time. Spatial Concept, Planning and Furniture together with Lukas Kochendörfer @luu_kochendoerfer Jan Aimé Fräulin @jan___aime Frieder Salzer @friedfredfrieda Furniture also for sale. Contact us if interested and for prices! 🙌 Branding/Logo-Design proposal together with Nadine Weber #architecture #interiors #restaurant #dining #design From the archive: Design study and spatial proposal for a Viennese burger spot developed in 2024/25.
