It has officially been 10 years since you left this world. 10 years since I last heard your voice.. since I last heard your laugh.. since we last played catch.. since I last told you how much I love you. I still can’t believe that you couldn’t stay here with us longer. I would do anything to talk to you face to face just one more time and give you a hug. At just 12 years old, I never in a million years thought I could lose you so soon. You were my best friend, my coach, and my dad all in one.. and suddenly, Mom, David, and I, along with so many others, had to learn how to live life without you here with us.

Ever since then, all I’ve tried to do is be the man you raised me to be. Since I was in 7th grade, I’ve put this immense pressure on myself to step up, be the man of the house, and take care of Mom and David the same way you did.. but they’ve shown me that we are all in this together. You taught me to be kind, loving, humble, and to always care for the people around me. You gave me my love for sports, but more importantly, you showed me what it means to love your family.

There are so many moments I wish you could have been here for. I wish you could have watched me grow up and graduate high school and college. I wish we got to share a beer together on my 21st.. or that you could witness Aaron Judge play baseball or the Knicks finally winning another championship. I wish you could meet all the new friends I’ve made and see all the good I’ve done. I carry you with me every day—in the way I love and treat others, and in the person I continue to become.

Dad, you touched the lives of so many people by being a bright light and a constant source of joy and laughter. You were the funniest and coolest guy ever and that has clearly been passed down, thank you very much. I hope wherever you are, you’re proud of me and you see that I try to do the same. I am more than humbled to be your son and to continue honoring your legacy for the rest of my life. Mom, David, and I love and miss you so much.
