Recently I had dinner at Le Gratin and will be going back again and again. The atmosphere, staff and food create a wonderful, relaxed dining experience.

The back terrace is a lovely area to enjoy drinks and dinner in a quiet, more private area perfect for couples & solo diners. As a solo diner I was treated like a queen! I appreciated the personable staff who helped make my dining experience perfect.

The chicken cordon bleu was delicious and the chocolate mousse for dessert was the lightest and best I've had since living here!

Definitely a great place to dine for those who enjoy ambiance & delicious cuisine.

Today after a stop at Marché Saxe-Breteuil, just a couple blocks away, I visited Le Butter Shop at 5 rue Bouchut 75015, Paris.

This new shop highlights fresh, artisan French butters. The butters come in various sizes with natural flavors mixed in from the sweet to the savory.

Not sure which ones you want? The staff was happy to let people sample various kinds. 👏👏

You can get regular butter, demi-sel, truffle butter ( ok...on everything!!), butter with a hint of lemon (on pasta? yumm!), Garlic (ail), Fine herbs(on a radish-yes please).

For those who crave butter and sweet? Try the chocolat, raspberry or vanille on a baguette, scone or whatever baked good might get a boost with it.

++They also have some of the butters in single serving size perfect for picnics!

Whether you're a local going on holiday or just visiting Paris, you have the option to have your butter vacuum sealed ( freeze + checked bag= perfect for intl travelers) so that you'll have some of the best butter to savor later.

Disclaimer: Yes, I bought several butters and will make this my stop again. I'm not an "influencer" ( 🤣 obviously), just someone who loves good French butter (is there any other?) and believes in supporting small businesses in the area!

Flaner sous la pluie ( Strolling in the Rain, Paris, 10/05/26

There is nothing quite like a long walk on a lazy Sunday in Paris…especially in the Spring rain. After a number of years adjusting to a climate where it rains often, I have finally come to embrace the steady rain when even the ducks take refuge under bridges.

Spring rain in Paris just hits differently. Gone are the crowds and noise, replaced by the sounds of the steady rain echoing off the cobblestones. It’s that feeling that everything is getting a good cleaning from the long winter.

The calm of having the city almost all to yourself in places that are normally crowded and filled with noise, makes exploring Paris in the rain even more special. You tend to slow down and really see the beauty of this city that has weathered the elements, fires, wars, monarchs, emperors, and a million changes that kept it evolving for over 2,000 years.

There is just something so magical about seeing this city in such a solitary way and contemplating its history as the rain washes it clean once again.

Jardin des Plantes

This year the "Jardin des Plantes" celebrates its 400th year!!

This beautiful place covers over 66 acres with various gardens nestled within the garden, along with the Botanical School, National Museum of Natural History, the Mineralogy and Geology Gallery , the Great Gallery of Evolution, and the Great Greenhouses.

There are always diverse plants, trees, and flowers to enjoy no matter the season.

Spring has brought the blossoming cherry & apple trees, tulips, peonies and numerous other flowering species.

A walk in the gardens among the brilliant colors and sweet scents is the perfect way to spend a morning, afternoon or day!

* The plant/bush in the last shot is documented as being from 1785...over 241 years old!!! ❤️

Spring is unfolding! Time to get out to the open markets weekly & start taking advantage of fresh vegetables & ingredients for great food.

I found a fabulous bookstore, Librairie Gourmande, at 50 Rue Vavin in the 6th arrondissment. I've never seen a bookstore dedicated to just cookbooks, great cuisine and the love of cooking ❤️.

It was inspiring to browse the recipes of the masters of French cooking and those who've followed.

I settled on three books to begin....I can't wait to start cooking some delicious, healthy food.

Next up? I need some good knives & cookware!
