“I know these farmers are struggling financially. The clean up process is going to be a very, very long time. It’s not going to take months; it’s going to take probably years, if not longer than that. Just to see that, it is disheartening, but I also know that farmers are very resilient.”

Hurricane Helene had a devastating impact, taking a toll on many rural communities.

Purdue University Junior, Jaden Maze recently had the chance to visit with North Carolina farmers and document the aftermath for agriculture.

She spoke with RFD-TV’s own Suzanne Alexander on her visit to those rural communities, the road to rebuilding, and the need for a Farm Bill.

On Friday I was able to stop by @freshlydairy for their open house to try some milk samples and get a tour of their farm! Freshly Dairy is family owned and started in 2022- they bottle fresh milk that it processed on their farm. They have lots of unique varieties that include high protein milk(perfect for athletes 😁) and flavors like cookies and cream!

Located in Lizton, Indiana just 20 miles west of the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, they are definitely worth a try. As an ambassador for @indairy this was a great experience and I look forward to buying more Freshly milk 😋 @freshlydairy @indairy by @jmaze02

I had a wonderful time this weekend at AFBF Young Farmers and Ranchers conference. I competed in the discussion meet and was honored to place in the top 4. Thank you to everyone who supported me this weekend and cheered me on. It was cool to get far in the competition, but the connections and relationships I have built through this are invaluable. I lost a lot of confidence this year as I felt a little lost during certain times at college, but being involved in Farm Bureau has given me a place to be myself and advocate for agriculture. I am so grateful to God for giving me this opportunity and cannot wait to see where Farm Bureau takes me in the future. @afbfyfr @zippyduvall @infarmbureau @purdue_farmbureau by @jmaze02

For all my haters out there who say I’m a homebody I actually did something last night. The music was good, people watching was better. Thank you Marli for the invite, I haven’t had that much fun since I stayed home the day before. As I walk away from my year of service with Indiana FFA, the one thing I want to express is my gratitude. I’m grateful for the experiences and the relationships I have gained from this year.

To my team, thank you for supporting me and helping me become more vulnerable with others.

To the members, thank you for being the constant reminder as to why I ran for this position in the first place- to serve.

And to my family and friends, thank for showing up and being my cheerleaders throughout the year.

This year changed me in a lot of ways, but for the better. This year showed me how to find purpose through my pain, to stay ROOTED in Jesus Christ, and that above all else I am serving a heavenly kingdom. I hope that is the mark I was able to leave this year with @indianaffa and I hope it’s the same message I can spread for the rest of my life.
