This story didn’t start as @84badrides.

It started with me and my Dad and @MildHogs.EpicTrips.

Motorcycles have given us something pretty special over the years, miles together, places visited, stories told, and memories that I’ll carry with me for the rest of my life. Somewhere along the way, what we shared on two wheels became a much bigger part of my own life.

Even though we haven’t shared an Epic Trip in a few years, Dad ignited a new passion in me to ride the back roads, discover new places, and experience this amazing country we all love from the seat of a motorcycle. And that passion never went away. It just kept growing.

I’ve ridden Harleys across the country, chased landmarks and destinations, completed Iron Butt rides, explored places I’d only seen on maps, and discovered that I’m usually happiest when there’s a motorcycle underneath me and another road ahead.

Now I’m starting a new chapter.

84 BAD goes all the way back to my football days and the number 84 I wore long before I ever imagined where life would take me. Football and coaching were a huge part of my life. They taught me to prepare, push through the hard stuff, chase big goals, and finish what I start. Turns out those lessons work pretty damn well on a motorcycle too.

This page is where I’m going to document what comes next; long-distance riding, motorcycle travel, Iron Butt adventures, bike builds, gear that actually gets tested on the road, hopefully a 2028 invitation for the Hoka Hey Motorcycle Challenge and the preparation for my biggest motorcycle adventure yet: riding Ivy, my Triumph Tiger 1200 Rally Explorer, to the Arctic in Alaska in 2027.

And Alaska isn’t the finish line.

Someday, I want to ride motorcycles around the world. 🌎🏍️

There are a hell of a lot of miles between here and there. That’s exactly the point.

Dad helped start the journey. These pictures are some of the miles that brought me here and @84badrides is where I’m going to share the ones still ahead.

Our great adventure is coming to an end. We arrived back in Seattle. I want to thank my wonderful travel agent, itinerary planner, travel partner, and wife of 31 years for putting together a great trip. She spent hours researching every excursion and hit a home run at every port. This old dude was able to just go along for the ride and planned nothing… haha! The last stop of the cruise put us in Victoria, BC. I wasn’t sure what to expect since we weren’t getting in until 8:00pm and had to be back on the ship by 11:30pm. We took a little bites and sights walking tour through Victoria and it was a very pleasant surprise. Victoria is amazing. Full of history and amazing architecture. I’m really glad we got to experience it all lit up at night. Gorgeous!!! We will comeback for a long weekend and maybe more. The city was alive with vibrant nightlife. Last day in Alaska! Had a great morning in Ketchikan, AK. Nothing like a Pub Crawl at 9:00am on a Thursday morning… We were lucky enough to stay dry for most of the morning and lucky enough to experience the beautiful rains in Ketchikan as well. Hoonah! Hoonah! Hoonah! What a day. We ported at Icy Strait Point outside Hoonah, AK. Took a boat trip out into Port Frederick and the Icy Strait to do some more whale watching. Got to see a group of 8 or 9 Humpback Whales using the Bubble Netting technique to feed. Got a couple good shot of it here. Walked into Hoonah and got a cool picture of a massive Eagles Nest. Tuesday afternoon was an amazing experience going down Stephens Passage and Endicott Arm to see Dawe’s Glacier. Something we will never forget. Had a great morning in Juneau, AK. Walked around town, did some shopping, the ladies got crabs at Tracy’s King Crab Shack, had a Duck Fart Shot at The Red Dog Saloon, an Orca Fart Shot at the Triangle Club, a Bear Fart Shot at the Grizz, another Duck Shot at the Lucky Lady Saloon, and Eagle Fart Shot at the Historic Imperial Saloon that has been there since 1891. The afternoon glacier picks through Stephen’s Passage and Endicott Arm will be another post. Too many great picture to put into one post. taken in Juneau, Alaska by @jmhilton84
