Today should have been Maksen’s 2nd birthday.

For two years now, we’ve carried both the joy of being his parents and the pain of missing him every single day.

There isn’t a day that goes by that Whitney and I don’t think about him. We wonder what his laugh would sound like. We wonder what kind of little boy he would be. We wonder what life would look like with him here beside us.

Tenley talks about her brother. Anakin has grown up knowing he has a brother in Heaven. Our family has never stopped loving him, and we’ve never stopped missing him.

Some people think the pain gets smaller with time. In some ways, we learn how to carry it, but the love never gets smaller. A father’s love doesn’t stop because death came too soon. A mother’s love doesn’t stop because she never got to bring her baby home.

Today we celebrate the life of a little boy we never got to watch grow up, but who will always be part of our family.

Happy 2nd Birthday, Maksen.

I’m genuinely trying to understand if I’m being unreasonable here.

We’ve clearly asked that our driveway and the land beside it (which we own) not be used by construction workers from the surrounding builds. There are “Private Drive” signs posted on both sides, and permission has not been given to drive on it, park on it, or use the grass alongside it.

Despite that, it’s very clear that our driveway and land are being used anyway, resulting in torn-up ground that will not be repaired by those using it.

This isn’t about being difficult or unfriendly — it’s about respecting private property, honoring clear requests, and not damaging land that doesn’t belong to you.

So honestly, am I wrong for expecting people to respect property boundaries and stop using land they’ve been asked not to use? by @jmitchell238

One thing about me is… I’m going to celebrate my babies’ birthdays BIG! And we had a little party for Anakin with all our family and his friends this past Saturday! 👷🏼‍♂️🛠️ 🦺 🚧 🏗️

Today our Anakin turns 4! 🥰 He is my blessing, my love, my heart, my joy, my little boy!
My goodness he has brought so much happiness into our family. He has comforted me so much this past year too. He loves his mama and i love him.
The journey has been beautiful from his 3 lb 11 oz self to now. Anakin is so funny. He is the apple of his daddy’s eye and his mini me, he is mommy’s heartbeat, and sissy’s best friend!

For this child I prayed, and the Lord has granted me my petition that I made to him.

🏡 In just a few weeks, the Mitchells will begin a new chapter in Summertown after spending the first 8 ½ years of our marriage in Waynesboro. These years have been filled with love, lows, hard work, and countless memories, and through it all, James has been my greatest blessing. A brilliant, driven, compassionate, and most loving husband.

Together, we’ve built a life grounded in faith and perseverance, and now we get to see the fruits of that labor. I once thought we’d be saying goodbye to our first home, but instead, we’ve been able to keep it, another dream made possible by my incredible, hardworking husband and, most importantly, by Jesus, the God of provision.

More than anything, James has given me the greatest gift of all: the ability to be a homemaker and raise/homeschool our babies. That is what this little video is about 👩🏼‍🦰👦🏼🩷
