Banging out these little studies daily. I feel this helps build trust with a client who might not know what they are looking for yet. Seeing something tangible and creative might help ease the decision making process and allows for that creative freedom.

It’s spooky season so why not reflect on the last month.
From drawings, to sketchbooks, tattoos and taking you into my personal space working a shop. These last 6 months as a whole has been one hell of a change. I’m here for it❤️🙏.

Speaking of spooky season…things might get a little different looking👀. More blackwork, dark lettering, and Halloween vibes. Still with my twist though.

Hot out the sketchpad. While we could nail the right design for the original idea, my homie was saw this design and instantly said let’s do this!

While it was more a trad study, it felt dope to see John take this and agree to get it. The bigger lesson learned and earned was trust, maybe my freestyle Graff wasn’t the right fit. Or maybe I recently met John and he hasn’t seen my work. That’s totally ok. Sometimes it take a smaller piece to build what can eventually become something bigger.

I freehanded the cap a couple years back with a friends machine. Decided to grab the sharpies and complete the scene having no idea what would come. I was hungry to learn that day.

Definitely a hell of a lesson to teach myself 🤣. Did it hurt yes, but the end product is going to be so sick!

Now we’re up to speed. The current day.

To be a beginner again really is a cool feeling. Seeing where my creativity fits into all of this is has been the coolest part.

Meeting @mikegreentatz and @piercedbylala was the turing point. I got tattooed and was finishing a painting in their shop, when I asked them “hey what does it take?”….not knowing that they saw something in that painting that would lead to the start of a new journey.

The finale and the future…

This little series was super fun to film. I also hope you enjoyed the stories along the way. Sometimes things don’t always line up the way we intended.

Hell I never would’ve thought I’d actually get into tattooing in my 30’s but it just feels right. It’s feels as if I can take all my knowledge from my professional career mix it with these 19 years of drawing and really become the artist that 15 year old me wanted.

Here’s to a lifetime of art.❤️🙏✍️

The grand restart!

Being laid-off was a blessing and curse. Blessed to be able to have a fresh restart. Yet cursed because I had to leave amazing people behind, while not knowing what would happen the next day.

Picking up the machine just felt right during this whole time. Drawing things that could potentially become flash. During this time I’d also become obsessed with dark lettering as I am with graffiti. Both illegible, yet two different cultures. One hip-hop one hard rock… and for me I’ve always listened to both. It’s just dark lettering was based off a style I avoid for years….Old English alphabets.

It brings me to this weird funk vs punk nature I have today, but more on that tomorrow.

Off into the real world.

Fresh outta college, wet behind the ears in design but still very disciplined in drawing for myself. Only now I had client briefs to follow.

I’m still very much in love with being a designer I’d just rather design you a dope tattoo you can rock forever.

The college years!!

Things got a bit more interesting once learning all the principles of being a designer. Graffiti had to take a back seat while I soaked up everything about typography.

Funny how there were also flash ideas here and there…I guess tattooing also played a part in my journey without me realizing it.
