POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

On the morning of September 22nd we lost our brother, drummer and best friend Steve Hass. Steve had a massive heart attack on the night of May 1st, coincidentally the night before we were going to play our friend Adam Noble Bass's celebration of life. A tragic coincidence and the beginning of many bad days and months for Steve, his wife Amanda and all his friends and family.
We are devastated. I am devastated, gutted. Personally speaking I feel that death isn't in itself horrible, it's a fact of life and I believe we exist beyond this mortal veil. But I miss him so much. I've been worried about him and Amanda for MONTHS. My heart is broken and goes out to all of you that feel his passing.
In the underground music scene, your chosen family is sometimes closer than your blood relatives. You see them more often and the bonds grow stronger. Blood might be thicker than water, but nothing bonds you like the glue of sharing a stage, night after night. Practicing the same songs over and over.
Along with our other brother, Marc-Anthony Burno, Steve was a consummate drummer in a towering rhythm section built over decades of friendship and jamming. Of the many bands we've all been in, Githyanki is one of the best. We played a fuck ton of shows together and I say that in full humility.
Honestly, I think I took Steve for granted… Now that we don't have him behind us, I'll have to rethink how I write my portion of the songs. I counted on the fact that that sardonic motherfucker would just get it. Once the song was written it was always better than the sum of its parts. Always. Listen to our cover songs and tell me Steve didn't make them better. You can't.
Steve was a killer guy, funny, super smart, supremely knowledgeable on all the geeky things we care about. A really fun hang and a total curmudgeon. A fucking good guy. He played his emotions close to his chest but wasn't closed off at all. Steve was an all around decent human being with a dark view of humanity that I completely jibed with.
Jesus Steve, (as we called him with love and affection and affected derision) why'd you have to leave us? We love you and we miss you horribly and forever. Rest in Power my friend by @jmmcnulty

A little studio porn, I've not posted much about my work this year but I have indeed been busy, do many good records coming put soon! This is from this weekend's session tracking the new ENDLESS JOY record. We are getting amazing drum sounds in this room and the low end coming off of Jensen's kit is insane! Ian's bass is pummeling and Nick's guitar tone is so unhinged. Give the last record a spin.
Ph yeah and these SE7 sidefire mics are my new secret weapon on toms, poor man's Josephsons, 100% punching above their weight. Really good build too. #SEmicrophones #killroomstudio by @jmmcnulty

I cannot tell you how influential this band is and how sad you are going to be if you sleep on this show tomorrow. So many of the bands you know and love would not exist if Dazzling Killmen didn't. Get off yer ass and be stoked that you get to see Point Line Plane too, neither of these bands have played since the 90s. by @jmmcnulty
