HYROX DC: Round 2 Okay, so boom. I signed up for this race months before I even completed in the NYC event. That said, I spent most of the summer very much half-committed to going through with this one. Ultimately, I decided, what the hey… there's no prize & nothing to lose, just do it for doing sake. As before, my goal was the same: finish & don't die. Naturally, I was hoping to improve my race performance & shave off even a second of my time. Narrator: She did not shave anything but her legs. Cut to my face palm on the finish platform. Equal parts delirious exhaustion & disappointment. I knew halfway thru my wall balls I missed the window to beat my time. Legs started cramping on my 8th run and it was a wrap from there. The high point is that my running times were significantly improved across the board which means all of my running over the summer actually yielded a positive outcome. So wherever I lost that 2min52 sec is no longer a concern. Aside from the fact that the roxzone was ridiculously huge but hey, who's counting 😏🙃😎 #hyrox #hyroxdc Also, this day way my mom's birthday and it was extra special to have her there to cheer me on & see me do a "hard thing." Life is long & there's plenty of time to surprise ourselves if we're open to it 🤎 by @jmsoprano
Hello 38 👋🏾 by @jmsoprano
Goodbye 37 ✨ by @jmsoprano
When I asked @dtroulhac to come through for my Hyrox race, this was his response. His voice note beat any trending audio I could've found for this occasion 😅 Welp... It happened! Back in the fall, I saw someone on the train with a Hyrox badge on their backpack. I googled it once and and almost immediately race day & prep videos flooded my algorithm. I got hooked on the idea pretty quickly. It looked fun, right up my alley fitness wise, and I thought this is something I could actually complete. Getting an athlete ticket felt harder than getting a Beyonce ticket 😳 a lot of refreshing, days selling out before my eyes. But I got in! Secured the final day of the 10-day event, the next day after our season closing. Training started pretty immediately. Bumped my workouts up to 4-6x a week, had to commit to running more which is slowly getting better, serious heavy lifting training guided by the man & started Hyrox classes at @crossfit_nyc. Big shouts to their trainers and even moreso for the full simulation they ran, very helpful in my training process. That said, my simulation time was 2:05. My goal was to finish the race in 2hrs. I finished in 1:58 🙌🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾 Now, considering my race metrics listed 9 min spent in the Roxzone, one might say I actually shaved more than 10 min off my sim time 👀😂 But that's just my math! All in all, it's done and dusted. Round 2: Hyrox DC on 9/6 😎 Cheers to the big goals! #hyroxnyc by @jmsoprano
I'm posting these clips in full to take in all the applause, all the flowers, and all the praise for our dear Denyce. I'm still in awe from yesterday's events and incredibly grateful that I got to witness it up close and personal. Denyce Graves has been a presence in my life for over 20 years and now, as she's signing off from her illustrious onstage career, I can call her a colleague. Particularly, as alumnae of The Duke Ellington School of the Arts, this moment couldn't have been any sweeter. My special moment on stage always came after I sang my solo in the funeral scene. Denyce is staged to walk by me and she'd always grab my hand or embrace me which works for the tone of the moment. But I always received it as a sign of encouragement and approval from thee #DenyceGraves. It's been a pleasure to watch her on stage, an actress, okay! Her generosity is unmatched. We were blessed to have her through all three iterations of P&B and knowing that Denyce chose this show, this cast, and this stage to say farewell warms the cockles of my heart. There was a deep understanding and awareness of this moment and I will cherish my front row seat, always. by @jmsoprano

The 36th Year, Vol. 3 It was a fine year. A bit left of center at times, but maybe that’s the point—maybe there is no true center, just where you happen to be. Life, am I right? Oh, while I have you here.. listen up. This is a new internet we're dealing with. Don't believe everything you see. Please, promise me this. Okay, I love you. Bye. Here's to 37 🤎 by @jmsoprano

Last week we opened Ainadamar at the @metopera. It took me 9 days too many to make this quick little recap of opening night but who's counting? This is a stunning production in so many ways and I'm very pleased with the final product we're finally able to share with audiences after much much much rehearsal! There are 6 performances left so hop to and get your ticket. It's a production unlike any you've seen at the Met & that's just half the fun. 90 min of sensual, fiery vibes. Most importantly, this show focuses on the life of #FredericoLorca. As the composer weaves together images as a sort of mediation on the life, work & persecution of Lorca, I'm left with the reminder: You can kill the artist but you can't kill the art. by @jmsoprano
#thrilledtoannounce I cancelled my Equinox membership! We had a good 2 years and countless elevator selfies that sat in photo album purgatory. I'll miss you Sauna. I'll miss you Woodways. Alas, it's time to say goodbye. by @jmsoprano
