Light & Ryuk (Original Flash)

Hi friends, been a minute! Sorry for the lack of posting, been having mixed feelings around social media lately… BUT I HAVE REALLY COOL STUFF TO SHARE, SO SHARE I MUST!!!

I wanted to create a piece of work here that blended anime, Nouveau and Renaissance elements, as if a weeb were to be transported to the Baroque period and decided to learn from Rembrandt himself on how to paint their anime husbando(s). This is the result!

~ Design & Thought Process ~ 
There is this constant power struggle between light and darkness within the story of Death Note. Despite how morally grey the main character is, there is a clear distinction between the kind, warmhearted Light that others perceive him to be, and the Light that operates in the shadows, creating elaborate masterplans to kill people in the name of justice.

That clear distinction made me think of one word: contrast. There is a blackness that starts from the bottom of the scythe, gradually being illuminated as it makes its way to Light’s head, whose expression I wanted to bring focus to. While his own demeanour is calm, I felt that I could give it an unsettling, almost sinister vibe through lighting alone. Thus, I gave him a cast shadow that lit him up from the bottom. His own shadow is replaced by Ryuk to provide both visual contrast to the piece and to frame Light better.

Here, both light and darkness stand in opposition yet are able to compliment one another.

Lotus & Lily Pad 🪷🌱

Incredibly happy with the flow of this piece! Always so grateful to be able to do more these larger pieces that allow a full range of colour and form. Some parts were freehanded in order to create a balanced composition on my client’s body. I’d love to do more just like this!

The last slide are the sweet peas we did almost a year ago healed.

THE HAWK, Story of Griffith

One of my original flash, this piece became one of my most rewarding tattoos I’ve done to date with how intricately detailed and fineline it is on an even larger scale. Everything about this piece makes me feel like “me” and I’m so so grateful to finally be able to give this work of art a home!

I’ve been tattooing for exactly 4 years now and nothing gets me more amped up than being able to fully realize my style and, by extension, myself further and further.

Thank you E for being crazy enough to put Griffith, (I know we hate him but damn why is he so beautiful), on your body and trusting in the process for 3 days in a row! That takes some crazy stamina on both ends.

Oriental Red Dragon Sleeve 🐉🩸

There are times after completing a tattoo, I take a step back and go “how the heck did I even do that??” After 3 long days of back-to-back sessions, for my client’s very first tattoo (INSANE!), this red dragon gave me that same pause.

I’m really proud of this sleeve! I love how everything fits so nicely, and flows so well together like it was always meant to be there. It’s incredibly rewarding having such a big blank canvas to fully express my art, and I hope that more people book for similar work to be done on them (wink wink). Thank you for all your trust and for being one tough mf, D :)

Tiger & Flames 🐯🔥

I’ve been having a lot of fun with tattooing “oriental” subject matter recently. With this design, I borrowed different elements from a range of different traditional Korean, Chinese and Japanese paintings of tigers. The addition of flowy flames, with some of them creating a contrasting, negative space, helps both guide the viewer’s eye to the tiger’s face as well as contour the back muscles of my client. Thank you E for this opportunity!

Igris, Solo Leveling (Cover-Up)

Done for the LEGENDARY and SWEETEST bean, @inkdkayy ! It can be super nerve-wracking working with another tattoo artist on project as I feel like I really have to pull out all the stops to impress. @inkdkayy was incredibly supportive in allowing me to experiment with this a lot, using a lot of cybersigilism-like shapes to the detailing of Igris’ armour and playing around a lot with the composition. The most difficult part was coming up with a way to cover up what was needed without lazily doing a big slab of black to do so.

Ty tytytyytytyty always! I’m very happy with how it turned out!  11hrs (2 sessions) - probably could’ve finished sooner but she was TESTING me >:(

Hades, God of the Underworld

Last post of the year! Thank you to Karaina for the wonderful opportunity to depict Hades in my own style, and to everyone else I was able to tattoo this year :)!!! See you in 2026 ~

~ Design & Thought Process ~

I wanted to create something that was more free-flowing, spanning across and around the arm of my client, while also naturally incorporating symbols from the mythos of Hades: the 3-headed Cerberus, the pomegranate, and his bident. When researching more recurring symbols for this piece, I learned that Hades had a chariot led by 4 horses in his abduction of Persephone, in which one of them is depicted here as well. The colour red also plays a big role in tying all the symbols both thematically and visually, giving it a more hellish look.

I would be lying if I said I wasn’t inspired by Supergiant’s game, Hades and Hades II, which features a much older, more daddy, less demon twinky version of the god of the Underworld. @jenzee_art is an INCREDIBLE artist, and I’m in awe of how one can beautifully capture those subtle, yet impactful story-telling elements into a character’s design!
