Hello everyone, I just wanted to give you all an update and thank everyone again for the incredible support and donations. It has honestly been overwhelming to see how many people have contributed and reached out. It makes me feel incredibly humbled and grateful. You are all amazing. After further evaluation, the surgeons have decided that the original location of the vascular bypass over the clavicle is too exposed and may lead to long-term complications, especially if I want to continue pursuing an active lifestyle or even comfortably wear a backpack in the future. Their current plan is to revise the bypass and move it to a more protected position under the clavicle using the subclavian artery. The proposed quote for the vascular surgery alone is approximately €20,000, including hospitalization and surgical costs. We are now waiting for the quote from the neurosurgeon, as well as a surgery date, which will hopefully happen sometime next month. In the meantime, I’ve been keeping busy with daily physio sessions, trying to activate whatever muscles are still functioning in my shoulder, and keeping my joints and shoulder mobile for when more mobility returns. Although my energy levels are still far from what they used to be, I’m also trying to get back into some sort of routine by going to the gym and pool a couple of times a week, as well as going for daily walks in the woods around my parents’ home. It’s been humbling to adapt to this new reality, but I keep finding joy in small things like coffee, food, books, Netflix, and time with loved ones. Here are a few snippets of what daily life looks like these days, including a video of my physio sessions. Finally found the time to sit down and post something. Looking back at the last three months, it’s hard to make sense of everything through a handful of photos. They only ever capture a small fraction of what you really live. Most of the difficult, intense, emotional moments never make it into the frame — and there were plenty of those. That’s the main reason I don’t feel entirely comfortable with social media anymore. It rarely gives you a true sense of someone’s life. Still, despite that, here are a few photos from the trip that bring back good memories. 1. Starting up P4 - " Via Comicci/Dimai" on "Cime Grande di Lavaredo" 2. @albiclimbs - "Say, ciao mama!" 3. ⸻ Via Constantini/Apollonio – Tofana di Rozes (530m, VII+) A proper baptism into the big Dolomite routes. Apparently, rings and pitons here are like bolts anywhere else — “just clip and go!” according to my partner @albiclimbs. First real “vacation” climbing trip outside of Spain in 10+ years, first time in the Alps, and first time in the land of pizza + espresso (probably the most important ingredients for climbing at your limit). From a couple of weeks ago on Wind Ridge. It’s been a rainy summer, but I have to admit—I love the moody look the mountains get when wrapped in clouds. I’ve been experimenting with editing since picking up a small compact camera, and it’s made me appreciate even more the work that goes into every photograph. What happens when you go full dominguero, spend way too long on coffee and pastries, and casually rock up to the Yamnuska parking lot at 9:30? Plan B Still, it turned out to be a great choice—and I’ve gotta say, the last pitch of Smeagol is one of the best I’ve done on Yam. Climbing those steep, roofy sections has to be one of the most fun styles out there. At the end of the day, what really matters is having a good time with friends, and if the route is a classic it just makes it even more memorable. Chen and I had a great day on Love at First Sight at the Goblin Wall a couple of weeks ago. I was definitely a bit shaky above gear, still figuring out how to trust my shoulder again. Props to Chen for jumping back on the sharp end after a two-year break, ACL surgery, and becoming a mom. Days like that remind me that a lot is out of our control, but showing up and sharing it with good partners is always worth it.
