Deeply humbled to have received two Honorable Mentions for my photos in the 2024 Mobiography Awards! In the People and Portrait category, “Geothermal Spa Lifeguard” and in the Travel/Sense of Place category, “Catching Our Breath”. The lifeguard photo was taken at the Blue Lagoon in Iceland, where I led a school trip with students in February. It was cloudy at first, but as the sun started peeking through and there was some blue sky I happened to be at the little bridge with the lifeguard and I could see it would make a cool shot. Glad I had my iPhone in a waterproof pouch with me! Catching our Breath was taken at Craters of the Moon National Monument in Idaho, where I asked my son and daughter-in-law to pause at the top of the cinder cone hill because I could see the potential of the shot - thankfully no other tourists were present in that brief moment! Morning all, Phil @philden65 here with your featured shots of the day and for today's visual delights, I've selected a really 'different' and eclectic set of gorgeous photography for you to see.

These stunning images by the very talented camera club friend and follower Jen Newitt @jnewphoto , for me, perfectly illustrate what is a fantastic thing about both photography and each individual photographer. How every photographer "sees" the world so differently and in brilliant ways! I just LOVE how Jen sees the world in each stunning image here!

Firstly, Jen brings us a perfectly framed long exposure shot of Croton Dam, whereas a lot of photographers (certainly me!) would probably aim their cameras at the whole dam or Falls, Jen focuses on just a scenic area of the waters, perfectly composed. Secondly, Jen shows us a fabulously edited colour pop shot, highlighting the geometric design of the frame of the bench. Again, Jen gives us a brilliantly composed close-up of the calf's face, utilising the skin tone around the eye to create a natural colour pop edit. Finally, we have a shot of the famous Hallgrimskirkja church at Reykjavik, but she focuses on the symmetry and geometric designs of the forecourt to enhance the image brilliantly! Stunning work Jen, congratulations on your feature! 👌👏👏
