I finished reading this amazing book last night & I have a question. I grew up in Cleburne, TX. The law that required the desegregation of schools passed in 1954. I was born in 1955, 8 months before Rosa Parks refused to give up her seat on the bus. Eisenhower was our President & he had to order federal troops to Little Rock, AR, to enforce the law in 1957. However, schools in Cleburne didn’t integrate until I was in the 7th grade in 1966. How could that be? And lastly, this book should be a must-read for all of us. I knew there was racism when I was a kid, but I didn’t understand it fully until I read this book. It is a real eye-opener! The fact that Eisenhower, the general in WWII who led the Normandy Invasion, couldn't get the governor of Arkansas to obey the Constitution was astounding to me. So how did Texas get by with this until 1969?!? Inquiring minds want to know. by @jntc_org

In April, we will recap this month commissioners court, launch a new action email campaign, and build our digital community. We reflect on strategies being implemented and developed for the rest of 2026.

Community events are being organized, come learn about them and get involved.

The People’s Commissioners Court gives working families, marginalized communities, and everyday residents of Tarrant County a voice where our leaders have failed us.

Our mission is simple: identify problems and solutions, demand accountability, and model governance rooted in care, not cruelty.

Together we will provide the people:

*Civic Engagement Opportunities
