👋 It’s been a little while since I last said hello to my lovely friends from far and wide…Sooooo, (just in case you didn’t know 😉) I’m Jo. I live in La Plagne, one of the best ski resort in the world (I’m biased, I know 😜), and my account is full of my beautiful mountain views, mum moments and plenty of French Alps magic, with a touch of humour of course.I thought I would do the ‘10 things you (probably) don’t know about me’ challenge. So let’s see which one(s) surprise you the most…1️⃣ I’m scared of heights… but somehow chairlifts don’t bother me🎿2️⃣ I suffer from high blood pressure. During my last pregnancy I was really unwell and had to deliver my baby early - my blood pressure never went back to normal 💓3️⃣ I have a sweet tooth and have been known to hide in the bathroom to secretly eat chocolate so my kids don’t steal it 🙊4️⃣ I’m a twin! I feel so lucky to have grown up with my twin brother (no, we’re not identical 😅)5️⃣ I studied drama + film at uni and planned to work in production/behind the scenes… until… I met my other half on my first ski season in La Plagne. And now I’m stuck here ❤️🎬6️⃣ French was my worst subject at school (I scraped a D at GCSE 🙈). Now I use it every single day of my life! Lesson learnt: don’t mess about at school - you never know what you’ll end up needing! 🇫🇷7️⃣ I’ve technically gained an extra day when I travelled across the International Date Line and never went back 🌍✈️8️⃣ After uni, I temped at the front desk of a drug rehab centre. We had to hide out stuff so it wouldn’t get stolen 🗝️9️⃣ As a child, I loved The Wizard of Oz so much I made everyone call me ‘Dorothy’ and begged my mum for red shoes. The closest I got was burgundy 👠✨🔟 I often get that dreaded mum guilt of being torn between wanting to work and being with babies 💭 I’ve chosen my babies at the moment. They are only young once 🥰So, any surprises? Why not play the game yourself and tag me in your post 😘 by @jo.laplagne

Welcome to Le Tunnel run 💙One of the coolest blues you can do in La Plagne. Here’s what you need to know👇🔝 The start can be a little wake upThe top section from Roche de Mio can be a bit busy as there are 4 slopes of people that merge together and then split off. As you drop onto the actual Tunnel run it is a little steep. Remember, if you are not completely confident, then big wide open turns it is for you 👌➡️ Then it’s cruise the blue timeIt quickly eases off into a fun, flowy slope where you can really enjoy the ride.🏁 Speed is your friendThere’s a long flat just before you enter the actual tunnel… so keep the speed up! Future-you will thank you when you glide straight in without poling 😅🎶 Inside the tunnel is dance timeLights, atmosphere and music. Yes, you must dance while skiing through. It’s basically tradition.🌄 Wait for it… As you come out the other side, you’re rewarded with one of those wow-factor La Plagne views. But make sure you stop and admire the view on the side of the slope 😉So, are you ready to ski through a mountain? 👉 Feel free to save this post for a later La Plagne recap, and don’t forget to follow for more useful La Plagne insights… by @jo.laplagne

Beware… 👀This kind of danger can be lurking on almost every mountain walk… 😱 Especially around Lac Vert…Don’t worry though - this little dog wasn’t ours, and she definitely wasn’t dangerous. If anything, she was dangerously cute 🐶🥹Just a friendly warning: on even the most casual walk in La Plagne, you can end up with an unexpected hiking buddy… and a little wet too! 💦😂👉 Have you ever been adopted by a dog on a walk? 🐶 by @jo.laplagne

Most people know La Plagne for its snowy white slopes, but my mountain home has another side…We go from packed lifts, busy restaurants and slopes bustling with thousands of skiers, to just a few weeks later… peace and tranquillity, with no one around but us locals. It’s a strange life, living in a ski resort, but as a mum of three, I wouldn’t swap it for anything (well, most days at least! 😅).My boys are growing up with the mountains as their playground and the kind of freedom that’s becoming harder and harder to find.Living in the mountains means embracing every season. If you asked me right now which one I prefer, I honestly couldn’t tell you. What I can tell you though, is that the grass really is very green up here… and I think life is too 💚⛰️ by @jo.laplagne

Yes, the marmots take over 🐾Honestly, before I moved to La Plagne, I’d never really heard much about marmots. I mean, they don’t exist in the UK, so they were almost this mythical creature.I can assure you, though, these little guys are 💯 real, and here’s some proof. They start emerging around April as the snow melts, then head back into hibernation around October. They’re very shy, but when they think you’re not looking, they’ll pop out for a sneaky peek. They’re also known for their sharp whistling alarm calls to warn other marmots of danger. And honestly… how are they so blooming cute? 🥰Has anyone seen these up close? I’ve heard stories of people being able to feed them, although I’m not sure if it’s an urban legend… (or even recommended!) by @jo.laplagne

💚 Come discover the Lac Vert Circuit with us……summer edition ☀️One of the EASIEST family-friendly walks you can do in La Plagne. And yes… if you’re wondering whether it’s manageable with little ones - I’ve literally just done it carrying a 13kg toddler on my back 👶🎒Here’s what you need to know 👇🏁 Starting from Plagne CentreWalk up towards Aime 2000 and make your way to the MMV hotel. From here, the trail drops down through the forest towards Plagne 1800.🌲 Forest vibes activatedThis section is probably the easiest bit, as it’s downhill through shaded woodland. Just make sure you stop to admire the views 🤩💚 Here comes the Lac Vert (Green Lake)And yes… it really is green thanks to the reflection of the trees surrounding it.Here is the perfect mid-walk stop for photos, snacks or even a BBQ (yes, there are public BBQs here 👀), plus picnic benches if you fancy making an afternoon of it.⬆️ Time for the climb back upFrom Lac Vert, you’ve got a couple of different options:🎥 Route 1 - the route in my video! As you walk towards Plagne Centre, take the RIGHT track and follow the trail up through the trees towards the RAF plane memorial.🔄 Route 2Take the LEFT track down past the small chalet. Continue straight on and you’ll rejoin Plagne Centre at the entrance near the biomass heating station.👍 I personally prefer Route 1 - you cross a pretty stream and the climb back up definitely gets the legs burning 🦵🔥Sooo, if you’ve got little walkers, a baby carrier or just want an easy nature escape, this is a brilliant option. Super peaceful, super scenic and ideal for all ages.👉 Like what you see? Save this post for your next La Plagne summer adventure.
