It’s not about all the great wines we enjoy through life. It’s about the great people we got to know and enjoyed them with. It’s about the amazing conversations created behind each wine, the beautiful stylistic arguments discussed, and the variety of opinions and feelings created around them.

I loved wine, and I’ve loved it until today, because of the spark in people’s eyes as they savour it.

The connection and emotional exchange that happen during and after 75cl of delicious grape juice. The profound effort of trying to be heard and to listen at the same time. Therefore, wine is an art of communication.

This year is for the little girl who dreamed of the wider world, of places she had only seen in pictures and people she had yet to meet. She held on to that dream long before she had any reason to believe in it. Her commitment never let her give up, and her determination carried her here. Every journey, every glass and every face along the way belongs to her. She was right all along: the world was waiting.

Some trips are more mind blowing than others. 💚🤯

A trip of firsts as an incredibly exclusive experience:

💚 The first Chartreuse trip for a UK sommelier group
💚 First girls trip to Chartreuse globally.
💛 Had the Mise en 2016 Queen of Liqueurs - only 4000 bottles p.a. made.
💚 One of a few selected groups to visit the distillery, cellar and bottling line.
💚 First La Grave mountain barrel aged Chartreuse (3200m above sea level).
💚 Visited the monastery and immersed into their tradition of silence.

The secrets of Chartreuse continue as we have one of our own …

Thank you @caskforit, @chartreuse_diffusion for making this Chartreuse lovers dream a reality and especially @valeriechartreuse who after 32 years with Chartreuse had the history, stories and understanding of this world.

Meet the candidate: Joanna Nerantzi

“Hospitality is about connection —
bringing people, culture, and stories together.”

Last year was her first time entering the UK Sommelier of the Year — and she finished 3rd.

Not by chance, but through focus, discipline, and the willingness to step forward before feeling fully ready.

Today, she leads the wine programme at Raffles London at The OWO, bringing the same clarity and intent to everything she does — from service to competition.
