Since we’re here… short story about how this became our first song. So me and Devonte’e have always been so in sync. First memory I have of this is after we first visited his side of the family in Georgia, I had in my mind that I want to start capturing/keeping physical photos. Didn’t voice this to him at all. Our first Valentine’s Day comes up and I gift him a Polaroid camera and he gifts me photo prints of our memories together with a letter. I thought it was the sweetest thing ever like he read my mind.
Fast forward to our wedding day. I asked him to send me 3-5 songs that reminds him of me or our relationship for a gift I was making. Told him to send it in a blurred text so I won’t look at it until I needed to. Listen, I already had my 3-5 songs saved. I go to start the gift and realized we have the same song. I’ve never shared this song with him, nor him me, and it’s not that it’s a popular song so we were both tripping out when we blind selected the same song. So of course it has to be our first dance!

Then when we say our vows they’re basically the same?? God knew what he was doing when he blessed me with you. Just had to be patient and trust it. by @jo.springer

Rodeo bachelorette outfit? She made that.
Veal? She did that.
Reception outfit? Of course that’s her.
Wedding gown?!?! She did that too!

When I tell yall my sister is BLESSED with talent. And I’m blessed to have her as my sister! Maybe the most reliable, selfless, talented, hardworking person I know! And she just never stops surprising me on what she can do.

I never really had an idea of a dream wedding but when my sister started showing she could sew all I knew is that my dream dress was something made by my sister. And she delivered!!!

If yall not already following her, go show her some love. And who knows? Maybe she’ll make your next outfit too.

Year 30 hit hard! 6 weeks ago I broke my leg, I haven’t been able to garden, I can’t drive, I have had to depend on others for essential tasks, I’ve lost 2 members of my close family this year… it has just seemed like one think after another and I am tired!! I never thought year 30 would come with this much. In all of this, I am listening to what life is trying to tell me… the main thing being SLOW DOWN.

Slow down and see you have reliable people in your life. And although you value your independence, know that there’s a community around you that you can depend on.

Slow down and spend time with your family because each day is not promised. Be in the present and capture those moments.

Slow down and be patient. Know that everything will work out when it’s meant to.

Slow down and enjoy life. Stop worrying about everything you can’t control.

Slow down and trust your support system.

@itsholland_ and I planned this trip to Lima as a joint 30th birthday present. This journey to recovery has been stressful! Especially knowing we had a big trip coming up that I didn’t want to miss. I’ve tried to be in good spirits about it but honestly there’s been times I felt a bit depressed and a bit disappointed in my body feeling broken. I thank God I had Devonte’e by my side listening to me vent, encouraging me in my journey, helping me walk, bringing joy, cooking for me, letting me be wild, and still having an adventurous spirit (within reason) with me as we went on our trip. Yes we could’ve canceled but I’m so glad we still went and made it through and saw 1 of the 7 wonders of the world.

It’s not about the inconvenience/setback but how you react to it. Here’s to 30! And continuing to find the joy in the burnt toast ❤️ by @jo.springer
