📍Ahead of the game nutrition (Roath)

It appears that my weekends generally consist of mooching around charity shops looking for book bargains.

I’ve paired this hobbie with my food hobbie, so chose @aheadofthegamenutrition for the perfect place to grab a spot of Brunch.

I’ve been to their Whitchurch site a number of times and I’m pleased to report their Roath spot is as good 👍🏼

I loved my breakfast wrap, but totally regretted not ordering the cooked breakfast as I spotted someone tucking into one and it looked 🔥

I know what I’ll be having next time 😜

WOW! I’m still buzzing from all the fun @greedy_nurse_cardiff and I had at @lane7_ last night.

Think of Lane 7 as a playground for adults. This place has it all. Bowling, darts, golf, karaoke, beer pong and pool 🤯

Situated at the @principalitysta you can find @riverside__social overlooking the river Taff.

I had a sneaky peak and can say that it is a fabulous space which I’m sure will prove popular when there are sporting and music events happening.

📍 Pasture

It’s been waaaaay too long since @pasture_cardiff appeared on my page, so here we go 😁

Ga and I took the girls for their first ever visit and they loved everything about it ❤️

We were celebrating Aimee passing her first year in Uni and Chloe’s excellent first lot of GCSE results. There is honestly no better place to go for a special occasion.

I didn’t take pictures of the girls steaks as they wanted to get stuck in. Gareth and I shared a 600g chateaubriand cooked medium. Absolute perfection.

I still haven’t found a Mac & Cheese as good as Pastures 🤤

📍Butterflies steakhouse

IT FINALLY HAPPENED!!! I won the reservation war and managed to secure a table at @butterflies_steakhouse famous for its Epic Sunday Roasts.

I no longer have to put up with my buddy @greedy_nurse_cardiff chirping in my ear every 5 minutes about how good this place is 😜 (just kidding, it was every 10 minutes).

Fair play, she was right on the money!

For starters I had the whipped goats cheese bruschetta and Gareth had Welsh rarebit mushrooms. As you can see the portions were generous. The whipped goats cheese was so light and creamy. I was lured into a false sense of security and thought I’d be able to demolish my roast. I was so wrong.

The low and slow roast beef was incredible. Probably the best roast beef I’ve ever tasted. Extremely tender and melt in the mouth. I’m actually salivating just thinking about it again 🤤

I highly recommend ordering a side of Welsh rarebit cauliflower and broccoli cheese.

Unfortunately, I failed to finish my roast but was able to take my leftovers home in the boxes of shame.

I couldn’t go all that way and not order a dessert. I planned on taking one home, but suddenly I had second wind and was able to scoff the Malteser torte (ok I shared it with Ga).

I totally understand the hype surrounding this lovely place. The quality of food is exceptional and fantastic value at £28 for two courses. Staff are friendly and the service was excellent.

They are booked up months in advance.
I recommend randomly checking for tables as that’s how I scored my reservation 💪🏼

I honestly can’t wait to return if the open table gods smile on me once again 🤞🏼❤️

Did you know that there is an authentic Portuguese bakery in the heart of Cardiff?

@nataandco is home to the ORIGINAL Pastel De Nata, a delicious egg custard tart cased in buttery flaky pastry 🤤 Not content with a traditional tart? They also offer alternative flavours like apple or pistachio.

There are savoury options available. Perfect for when you’re looking for a spot of lunch followed by a sweet treat.

I was asked by a chap if their Nata’s were as good as Lidls. Thankfully he didn’t see me roll my eyes. I politely answered “of course.”

I dare you to walk past and not be tempted 😜

Big thanks to Amy for the invite ❤️ It was lovely to meet you and I had a lovely time. I’m currently deciding which Nata I want to try when I’m next in town 🤔

I had a sneaky preview cocktail crawl and visited the following venues:

@thepianoworkscardiff my first time visiting here and it had such a cool vibe. I tried their signature cocktail Mr Blue Sky. Took me right back to the boathouse in Florida. Just needed a lil ducky floating on the top.

@philharmoniccardiff was so busy as it was match day. Their signature cocktail Banana Colada was so good! Very subtle Banana flavour without tasting artificial. Nailed it!

@nq64arcadebars my friend and I had a blast here! Plenty of button bashing fun to be had 👾🎮
Their signature cocktail Aperol Orange Soda is a sweeter and less bitter version of a traditional Aperol. This cocktail was inspired by the popular 90’s kids Nickelodeon show, Kenan & Kel.

📍 Wahaca (Invite/Gifted)

Summer specials @wahaca have arrived and let me say, they are well worth checking out ☀️❤️

Summer specials include:

🍤 Prawn Cocktail Tostada: a delicious take on an 80’s classic.
🥬 Charred Hispi Cabbage: whoever came up with this special deserves a pat on the back. This was a stand out dish 👏🏼
🍹 Golden hour cocktail: Coconut tequila with freshly squeezed orange, grapefruit and fresh chilli. I’m a big fan of tequila so this was right up my street. Loved the hit of the chilli.

We also had the sweet potato bravas which is probably one of my favourite dishes. The smoky sauce on the side has a real kick 🌶️
The Baja fish tacos were tasty.

I spotted a coconut margarita on the menu 😍
I Loved that they decorated the rim of the glass with coconut instead of salt. Wahaca really smash their cocktails out the park 👏🏼

📍 Albert Hall Swansea (Invite/Gifted)

@swansea.alberthall is a beautiful historical landmark in the heart of Swansea centre.

Following its restoration, Its now home to a wide range of fantastic independent street food vendors, and I was lucky enough to try some of the delicious food on offer. Spoilt for choice is an understatement!

My daughter and I decided on the following dishes:

The Chuck Norris and the OG classic burger from @burger.boyzzz it was our first time trying their burgers and they were delicious! Perfectly smashed and seasoned beautifully. Loved it!

Chicken Tikka loaded fries from @theindianstreetkitchen I’ve heard good things about these fries so I had to give them a go. Soooo tasty! The chicken was juicy and tender and had a good kick to them. Portion was plentiful.

Halloumi fries from @thegreekstreetuk perfect, no notes.

Ordering is super easy via the QR code on the table.

The Photo Booth is a fun addition to the venue. I bet it’s pretty popular after a few drinks 😜

It’s very dog friendly so I’ll be bringing Kiki along to visit next time 🐶❤️

I really enjoyed our visit ❤️ Thank you again for having me.

📍 Turtle Bay, Cardiff 🐢🍹

My friend @jo_appreci_eats & I love great food and 2-4-1 cocktails, so we headed to @turtlebayuk @turtlebaycardiff.

Evenings from 8.30pm the lights dim, candles glow and music increases. You get a free Rude Boy shot at 8.30, 2-4-1 cocktails continue and they have plenty of offers like pints for £5 and wine carafes for £13. All this and the same great dishes you know and love.

The staff here are lush and make THE best cocktails, so for a guaranteed fab night out with friends and family, check them out.

📍Tiger Yard

It’s only been a few weeks since I experienced @tigeryardcardiff for the first time. I loved it so much, Gareth and I headed back down before going to watch The Odyssey (great film FYI).

From @dirtybirdfriedchicken we ordered garlic and herb chicken strippers, garlic herb mayo parmesan mac & cheese croquettes and straight up fries. The chicken was crispy and tender. The croquettes were a highlight, wish I’d ordered my own portion!

I ordered a smash burger from @fireandflank which I really enjoyed. The patties were perfectly cooked and seasoned well. The only thing missing was gherkins but that’s just my personal preference. I love a pickle.

Ordering is easy via the QR codes on the tables and there is plenty of shade if you want to keep out of the sun. It’s also dog friendly 🐶

Tiger yard is fast becoming one of my favourite spots in Cardiff ❤️
