Chicago shows up for each other.
-Slyvie Brett: Chicago Fire 8X13

Ten years ago today, Chicago Fire premieres on NBC and ushered in a new universe connected with shows like Law & Order & FBI.

Eventually the show spun off with a medical, a law and a police procedural show. All these spin-offs would be interconnected into the #OneChicago Universe within the #WolfPack

My friends and I have been fortunate to watch and become a part of this universe in the last ten years. Met some really great people along the way and from time to time, interacted with the cast as well.

I’m so happy how far they’ve come and I’m happy to have been a part of the ride.

All season of Chicago Fire, PD & Med are available to stream on Peacock. New episodes this Wednesday on NBC.

Last year, I attended a game on May 4th, the result a terrible loss across state lines(Brewers).

One year later, a game on home field against another division rival (Reds). Boy was I in for a wild ride.

One thing’s for certain, the Fourth was definitely with Chicago that day. I wanna thank my old coworkers from the Cubs for letting me and my friends on to the field on what was a most impressive game.

I always love that every 4 years, or in the case of transition of Winter and Summer games we see these athletes from different countries come together for a goodwill game and camaraderie.

Today, the games of the 25th Winter Olympiad come to a close in Milan/Cortina. This was probably the most I’ve ever enjoyed a Winter Olympics since the Vancouver games in 2010. I would like to extend congratulations to the many athletes from around the world and all our local Chicagoland athletes on their work and their achievements.

Now on to the next games two years from now, the Summer Olympics in Los Angeles! The next Winter Games in 2030 will happen in the French Alps.

Since everyone seems to be talking about 10 years ago, I figured it’s time to take the way back machine.

The year would start a little rough after the year prior saw the loss of your 2 of your grandparents. The third would come no less than a couple weeks after the new year.

Your work life would see several changes, from leaving your longest job (Crocs) to working your shortest living job (1 month).

Star Trek would continue to take over your life as the 50th anniversary of the franchise saw the release of your favorite film.

You would also return to background acting work on a show that would later give you an opportunity to wear scrubs…for 3 seasons straight afterwards.

But you would be able to travel the world a few more times, and celebrate your team’s World Series championship.

So really, 2016 was a stepping stone in a crazy journey called…Life
