Gool Peran Lowen / Happy St Pirans Day 🖤🤍💛🖤🤍💛🐦‍⬛🐦‍⬛🐦‍⬛ Thinking of family today and this day last year when we laid Uncle Phil to rest, i felt like all the flags were flying for him. St Piran is the patron saint of Cornwall and tinners (tin mining), his flag respresents the light of god beaming through the dark of the mine - or the tin shining out of black stone. Legend has it he had something to do with discovering the smelting process to make tin. Piran was an Irishman who escaped his death (in 5th century AD) and was washed up on the Northern coast of Cornwall. He built a praying place near Perranporth (St Piran’s Cove) and saw it as gods will that he was spared to convert the Celtic Britons to Christianity. That didn’t happen in a jiffy. Some pre Christian traditions survive in beloved Kernow. by @joangrayling

Ingen skal springe
aleine i mørket
ingen skal flykte
ut i ei elv ein fjord
vi skal reise oss
opp frå botnen av elva
opp frå grumset i fjorden
opp til trea
opp til fjella
opp til snøtoppene
opp til lyset
neste gong nokon spring aleinå i mørkeret

Kindness starts at home. 💚 by @joangrayling
