@kwwl_tv First Weather Alert about on a spring wind storm with winds reaching 70mph.

Wind storms differ from the storms that have a strong possibility of hail storms or tornadoes. Iowa learned this after a derecho that went through Iowa in August 2020. While the other spring storms have the potential for hail/or tornados. A wind storm sweeps across a much larger area. The derecho in 2020 went through practically every state in the Midwest region, causing severe property damage, destruction of trees, torrential rain, hail and spawning weak tornadoes (Wikipedia.)

Off to secure all loose items on the farm as much as possible. Stay safe to all in the path of this wind storms differ.

🥶 It is colder today! But at least the sun is shining brightly! 🥶 by @joanna.busch

Brr! Thank goodness we already took care of the house hold supplies. Yesterday, late afternoon as it started snowing we put out more hay for the new heifers. By the last bale, I was wishing I had taken the time for different chore clothes. 🥶 The snow was very wet and stuck to my clothes.

Barn cats were fed their warm wet food slurry prior to setting out the hay. I did ask the sisters: Anya and Stripe if they wanted to go for a ride in the Gator. Stripe, the barn cat who uses the Gator as her personal chariot and taxi service, did get in there for some 1:1 time with my mom as she used the Gator’s lights to help me see as I pulled the net wrap off the bales while my dad used the skid steer to raise and lower the bales. Brr! 🥶 by @joanna.busch

I’m a farm hand at my parents’ farm. Today we woke up to snow drifts, equals more chores before the Farmer (my dad) can start working on the chores to feed his Angus feeder cattle herd and Angus bred heifers. Luckily the snow is the powder fluffy snow type, easiest type to move and shovel. I did 98% of the shoveling snow from the feed bunks in the two feed yards. The Farmer’s Wife (my mom) and I finished the last feed bunk in the second yard just as the feed wagon pulled up to start unloading feed into the first bunk in that yard.

Barn cat, very hard worker too; on her various thrones inside HER Gator, especially since it has AC & heat. The other barn cats are NOT allowed in unless she says so. Which means pretty much only her barn buddy & sister Anya. She lets us use it for farm work. 😄

The weather forecast was accurate on the snow fall during the night, not the wind speed. Yay 🫤 shoveling a path out to do anything and everything.

The cat is barnyard or rather front yard cat, Greyson. He’s an a$$hole to the actual working cats. His previous human dumped him at my farm days after 2023 Thanksgiving. He has been TNR and vaccinated, see his left ear notched.

Brr! First negative thermometer temperature for this winter. Thankfully there’s no wind or it would be much worse. I’m also thankful for who came up with timer starters. 🤞 All the plugged in tractors and skid steers will be running for me and all the other farmers out doing chores today.
