Earlier this week I walked into my local @barnesandnoble with my family and found my "I Love the South" stickerbook sitting on their shelves. It was a true pinch-me moment when my sweet daughter picked up the book and excitedly told the B&N employee, "My momma made this!"

I'm still so grateful to @workmanpub for allowing me to be a part of this project. by @joannadee

I’ve always believed that a curious world is a kinder world.

That’s what keeps me coming back to these stories — especially the ones that don’t make it into the textbooks.

This piece honors some of the known heroes of the Holocaust but it also includes many of the lesser-known heroes — the ordinary people who did extraordinary, courageous things. Many of them didn’t have power or influence, but they had compassion. And they chose to act.

Through illustration, I am able to honor their stories. To keep their memory alive. To ask questions. To keep learning.

Because when we get curious about the past, we grow more tender toward the people around us now.

I agonized over which books and which blooms to choose for this print. I wanted to make sure it was visually interesting as well as quotes that were special parts of each book. Tap the link in bio to shop!

Change is uncomfortable but fairly unavoidable as an artist. I’ve witnessed my work change and grow depending on the season I’m in. That can be exciting but it can also be very scary. This new collection is a new direction in my work and if I’m honest I’ve been worried how it would be received.

There are a lot of artists in the florals and fauna area—many that I admire and love their work. I worried my artistic voice wasn’t needed in that space, that I couldn’t make florals that were uniquely my own. I worried this wasn’t the type of work anyone would want me to make. But I did it anyways.

Last week when I showed off the greeting cards in my new floral collection you guys showed up in my comments and DMs in a way I hadn’t anticipated. You were excited and encouraging and I needed that more than you know. Your messages were validation that it’s okay to change, it’s okay to explore new areas of my work, it’s okay to grow.

For everyone who commented, for all those who have supported my work and cheered me on—thank you. Your support means more than you know.

P.S. I’ve got more floral products in production and I’m working hard to make all this available for sell VERY soon. I love you all.

Listen up, artists. Don’t ever swear you’ll never ever do something because you just might end up doing it obsessively. I’m in my floral era.

Although on the surface, it may seem that my collection of music art is merely a celebration of pop culture, but music and art are always so much more than that. Music is a living history—every note, every lyric, tells the story of a time, a movement, and the people who shaped it. Music is history. #MusicIsHistory #SoundtrackOfOurLives by @joannadee

Got these beauties down from the shelf to do a little research for my newest art print that marries 2 of my loves — literature and florals.

There’s nothing more satisfying than completing a #surfacepattern and watching it tile together.

I drew this Crow & Poppy pattern because my family has been trying hard all year to become friends with our neighborhood crows. If you want to read more about our process of befriending the crows you can read about it on my substack. Just tap the link in bio to read!
