The Journey is the creation...

POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

“She’s got the Scry,” I’d overheard them say when they thought I was too little to understand.

But I understood plenty.

I’d always known something was wrong with me.

The Scry didn’t hurt anyone unless I got angry, which was hardly ever.

Mostly it just helped me see.

I could see into a person’s mind if they held still long enough.

The cards helped with that.

They made people feel more comfortable.

They made me feel more comfortable.

It was weird what I could do and even weirder to learn that strangers would pay me to do it.

Listen up! 🌞 A new podcast just dropped for the Jo DeVoe Show’s latest series:

A Journey Through The Major Arcana✨

. . .

The Chariot card is the next step in our Journey Through The Major Arcana, and together we will be exploring ideas like:

- The body as a chariot being pulled along by the whims of the subconscious in contrast to the aims of the soul.

- The ego mind as a charioteer.

- The importance of consistently moving in one clear direction.

...and many other things!

As I see it, The Chariot card indicates a peak moment in the individuation process and a call for clarity and focus in terms of the direction you are headed.

Having said that, this podcast episode unfolds in a hilarious way, as it slowly dawns on me that “as I see it” is undeniably a product of how the authors I have learned from see it.

I suppose that’s a lesson in choosing who you learn from wisely and never assuming that your opinions or “spontaneous insights” are formed without influence.

. . .

Also, this quote by William Blake really does it for me :

“Execution is the chariot of genius.”

To me it says that your talent or genius is innate, but the skills, processes and practices you are committed to form the channel through which that genius is delivered… or not.

“LOVE IT! Super Captivating. Myra is so relatable. I’m in my 38th year like the FMC. It’s incredible to have a character written so well that’s not a young adult. Many magical twists and turns. It is truly enchanting and whimsical. I immediately preordered book 2.”

I know a place! 🤠

“The Corndog House” in the Junius Heights Historic District in Dallas, Texas is a dream.

This is the five star review I left for it on AirBNB:

“This place is spacious and absolutely adorable! The decor is artsy and playful but still so tasteful. I could have spent our entire vacation snooping through the books and knick-knacks then going back and forth from the massage chair to the tub. The claw foot tub is clean and deep, and there is plenty of hot water. The cot in the utility closet folds out easily to create a second bed, and the kitchen is so fun. Gwen’s personality really shines through in every detail. Such CHARM. That’s the word for this place. It is truly charming.”

- The call back to Source as a reunion.

- The eternal nature of Soul.

- The “shame” of being seen in our innocence.

- The mirror-like dynamic of Wound Mates.

- The surprising similarities between The Lovers and The Devil card.

- The relationship between love and money.

And many other things!

I set off to scrounge up some food.

Food would straighten out my head, plus I wanted to check out the Tipping Of The Scales ceremony the locals had been hyping all morning.

They were right to hype, I thought, noshing through a plump chili dog, smothered in cheese and onion.

The ceremony was outrageously cute.

Someone had created a gigantic model of an old-fashioned balance scale, and it actually functioned.

There were six kids seated on each side, one side with their faces framed in foam headpieces of the sun, the others framed by the moon.

With much pomp and circumstance, the officiant announced the tipping of the scales, then carefully removed one boy from the sun side of the scale.

The children squealed as the scales tipped and the crowd erupted in applause.

Equal day. Equal night.

The equinoxes were Grandma’s favorite, which meant twice a year she’d bake a batch of black-and-white cookies.

The batches got bigger with each passing year, as word spread through the neighborhood.

She’d told me in confidence that the secret to their popularity was a few drops of orange blossom essence mixed into the batter which equally complemented both the chocolate and the vanilla icing.

The price for procuring one of these magical cookies had been sitting through a brief, informal presentation on the phases of the solar year.

Even the most distracted kids were quite willing to pay.
