New headshot. New energy. New level. 🔥
And yes — the hair glow-up matters, because confidence changes how you lead, speak, and show up.

I have many parts of my identity but I’m going into year 42 more confident than ever.
Some of my titles are mom, nurse, coach, therapist, housekeeper, chef, and shampoo slinger 💁🏼‍♀️ , but I’m not letting any label constrict me.

This isn’t just a business transformation.
It’s an identity shift.
It’s confidence.
It’s boundaries.
It’s becoming.
It’s honoring what I’m meant for.

Mama — you’re not behind.
You’re exactly where you need to be.

April 2025 ➡️ August 2025 ✨

Same 41 year old girl. Multiple cuts and color changes in between. But my ponytail has never been thicker, fuller, or healthier in my adult life.

For years I thought thin, flat ponytails were just my reality. Genetics. Stress. Motherhood. I told myself there was no going back to the hair I had in my 20s.

I was wrong.

What actually changed wasn’t a salon treatment or extensions or some complicated routine I don’t have time for (but I did actually try all kinds of brands of shampoos, leave-ins, and sprays 👀).

It was finding a brand that has specific formulas to help thicken and improve hair; including a supplement so it works from the inside and on the outside!

When I finally found a system that worked WITH my scalp instead of against it, everything downstream changed. Less shedding. Less grease. More growth. More thickness. More of ME showing up in the mirror.

This is what four months of consistency looks like, and it keeps going 💪🏻

If you’ve been staring at your ponytail wondering where it went… I see you. I want you to know it doesn’t have to stay that way.

If you are using a hair growth serum, did you know most of it never fully absorbs?

I am a nurse practitioner, so let me explain.
Roughly 1.4% is actually absorbed through a normal scalp.

BUT Red light around 630 to 670 nanometers boosts scalp microcirculation, which supports better delivery of blood and nutrients to the follicle. Near infrared goes deeper to reach the root. Turns out it can also help your serum absorb:

A 2025 meta analysis of 7 randomized controlled trials found that low level light therapy combined with topical minoxidil significantly outperformed minoxidil alone on hair density and hair diameter.

This is the JOVS HLLT, a red light therapy comb and dryer in one. It delivers both red and near infrared light, and the comb actually parts your hair so the light reaches the scalp, instead of sitting on top of your hair like a helmet style device.

This is a new non negotiable in my daily routine, especially to help my favorite gross serum absorb!

Not medical advice 😉

If you’re lucky enough to be in perimenopause or menopause (😫), and have noticed hair thinning, keep reading…

As estrogen drops, your hair gets more sensitive to DHT.
That is the androgen that shrinks follicles and pushes more hair into thinning and shedding. It is a big reason our hair changes in our 40s and beyond.

You can’t fully stop the hormones. But you can support the follicle from another angle.

Topical products help.... But there’s also red light therapy.

Red light around 630 to 670 nanometers boosts scalp microcirculation, so you are feeding the follicle better.

Near infrared goes deeper to reach the root.

This process is called photobiomodulation. Your cells absorb the light energy, it supports the mitochondria, the little power source of the cell, and that can help your hair growth cycle at the cellular level.

The JOVS HLLT is a comb and dryer in one. The comb parts your hair so the light actually reaches the

6 minutes. Cool air so no sweat, great for post workout to dry the sweat out of your hair!

If you’re a woman over 40 who trains hard but feels like your body recovers in slow motion, this is the routine that could change things.

For years I blamed it on age and stress. Stiff mornings. Restless sleep. A midsection that never budged no matter how hard I trained. I figured that was just the cost of staying active and working full time in my 40s.

Here’s the truth: recovery is a big piece most of us support the least.

The magic trio stack is Restore, Lean, and Fit: three oral peptides that are pushes in the right direction for better sleep, reducing fat and cravings, and muscle recovery.

Fit is what I call muscle water because I mix a packet into water and sip all morning. This is the muscle repair and recovery secret!

I’ve been taking the trio stack for 5 months and here is what I noticed: I’m sleeping deeper, recovery feels easier, and my midsection, always my stubborn spot, feels different than it has in years.

Results may vary, and this is my personal experience, not medical advice.

Curious how I use all three? Comment STACK and I’ll send you the details 💪🏼 by @joannahoopingarner

I’m 42 and workout 4-5 x week, and for years I told myself the stiff mornings were just my age. Neck tension. Restless sleep. That one old injury that never fully let go. I figured pushing through was the price of staying active.

I tried chiropractor treatments, 8 different pillows, neck stretching… still woke up stiff.

MUSCLE WATER is what I call my FIT powder packet I mix into water and sip all morning since January.

About a month in I noticed:
less neck tension,
better sleep,
old injuries that feel calmer than they have in a long time

If you are a woman in your 40s who eats clean and trains hard and STILL feels like your body is not matching your effort, read this.

Last August I looked at that beach photo and told myself I was totally fine with how I looked. And I was. Grain free. Spin class four to five times a week. Doing everything right on paper.

But fine is not the same as GOOD. I was bloated a lot. My body held on to abdominal fat. And right shoulder and hip pain would come and go from old injuries.

Nothing replaces diet and training. But once you are already consistent, the gap that is left is usually how your body RECOVERS and how you actually FEEL. That part does not always show up in the mirror.

Guessing at recovery and piecing together random supplements gets expensive and inconsistent fast.

For me the missing piece was adding oral bioactive peptides. Restore for better sleep and reduced cortisol, lean for reducing cravings and visceral fat, and fit for muscle recovery. Slowly over the past 5 months these have all improved for me. No injections or fasting or crazy regimens.

Curious how it works? Comment PEPTIDE and I will send you the details. by @joannahoopingarner

Last week I went 4 days between washes and my hair still looked clean and full.

2 years ago I could not make it past 24 hours.

For years I thought greasy hair was just my reality as a busy mom in my 40s. So I washed it every day. Used dry shampoo like a lifeline. Bought every volumizing product Target had.

Nothing worked.

Here is what I finally understood as a nurse practitioner who works with skin every day.

Your scalp IS skin. And it ages faster than your face.

When you strip it with harsh daily shampooing, it does exactly what your face does when you over-cleanse it. It panics. It compensates by producing MORE oil to protect itself.

So you wash again. Which strips it again. Which triggers more oil.

You are stuck in a cycle that never ends because you are treating the symptom not the cause.

And here is the part most product marketing will not tell you. The hair that grows from an inflamed congested follicle is thinner, weaker, and sheds sooner.

The real fix is not another dry shampoo band-aid.

It is treating your scalp like skin. Clarify it. Decongest it. Nourish it. Support the follicle so your hair can actually grow the way it is supposed to.

I went from greasy roots every single morning to washing twice a week with hair that looks clean, full, and healthy for days.

Same head. Completely different approach.

For over 8 years I washed my hair every single day. And I did not put 2 + 2 together to figure out why it kept getting greasy on the daily.

I thought I needed shampoo with more chemicals. I thought it was genetics. I thought my hair was stuck like this.

I was wrong about all of it.

Here is what I finally learned as a nurse practitioner who works with skin every day:

Your scalp is skin. When you over cleanse it with daily shampoo, it goes into oil overdrive to compensate.

The more you wash, the more oil your scalp produces. The more oil it produces, the more you wash. You end up in a cycle that never fixes the actual problem.

The hair that grows out of a scalp stripped of oil, congested with buildup is thinner, weaker, and sheds sooner. Add in the stress and hormones of being a mom and it’s not a fun result for your hair.

The fix is not washing more. It is treating your scalp like the skin it is.

✨ A clarifying shampoo twice a week to clear buildup at the follicle level

✨ A weekly oil treatment. 13 botanicals as nutrition for scalp and hair

✨ A clinical scalp serum nightly. Capixyl and melatonin to keep hair in the active growth phase longer and reduce shedding

Now I wash twice a week. My hair stays balanced for days. And I actually love what I see in the mirror.

If you have been washing daily and wondering why your hair is greasier than ever, this is why.

Comment SCALP and I will send you the exact protocol I use 🫶🏻

Same face. Different hair story.

These professional headshots are 10 months apart.

The one on the left is 4 months into my scalp reset journey. I was actually really happy with how much my hair had improved in that amount of time, I had no idea how much better it could possibly get.

The one on the right was just over a year of my scalp care routine.

I didn’t change my diet. I didn’t start taking biotin. I didn’t get extensions.

I changed what I put on my scalp, and how I treated it.

As a wound specialist, I know how much the health of a tissue bed matters. Your scalp is no different. Damaged follicles don’t grow healthy hair. And most products sit on the strand and never touch the root, or clog up the follicle, or strip your scalp of the oil that it actually needs.

That was the problem I didn’t know I had.

Comment HAIR below and I’ll send you the exact 3 step system I’ve been using for the last 10 months.

You don’t have to accept “letting yourself go” after kids.
You can be the cute mom at pickup.

I used to watch other moms at school pickup and think: She looks so put together. Why can’t I look like that?

Hair on point, somehow looking fabulous in sweats. Like she had it together in a way I didn’t.

Meanwhile I was using a ton of dry shampoo, wearing my hair up AGAIN, overdoing highlights, and cutting it shorter every few months because I thought that was just what happened after kids and stress and gaining on 40.

I didn’t realize I was treating the symptom, not the problem.

Most products coat the hair you can see. But hair is dead the moment it leaves the follicle. The real issue is what’s happening at the scalp.

When I finally started treating my scalp, everything changed.

Less shedding. Less grease. More volume. More of ME looking back in the mirror.

That put-together feeling? It’s not reserved for other people. It was available to me the whole time. I just needed the right system.
