Thrilled to bits to see my ceramic “Something Will Come of This” actually hanging for the first time! For this miracle I want to thank my ingenious friend, Charles Kennedy, framer extraordinaire, and my other immensely talented friend, Brian Delaney, also at the top of his game, hanging exhibitions and handling artworks. You are both wonderful! by @joannamules

My wall-mounted ceramic piece, “Something Will Come of This” was inspired by the portrait bust of Charles Dickens by an artist who only ever considered himself a journeyman but was happy to sign this work alone of all that he produced for Belleek Pottery in the three years he worked there. You can see his name in the Applied Arts Gallery at the Ulster Museum - maybe when you come to visit the RUA exhibition… by @joannamules
A few recent randoms... Ah, Rabbie! Well worth a tribute... and now you have the words you can sing them! And a daytime moth - a Burnet on one of the 12 - twelve! - orchid spikes in our 5 year old meadow patch! (Also note the Yellow Rattle - do you want some? I have seed...) Seriously, this floor is pigging! * rolling up the sleeves * Still life accumulation Finally, this is an image I feel encapsulates the experience of being vulnerable strangers in a foreign land. I watched the girl and her brother as I waited at the lights, he swinging round her, she anxiously looking as they waited for somebody - a friend? A parent? - to pick them up. At times, a stillness would almost camouflage them against the decrepit texture of the wall. My eventual, snatched photograph in the blurred hurry of the changing lights catches one such moment and the unplanned placing of the graceful, blue-robed figure against a triangular 'halo' on the wall gives an extra, thought-provoking dimension. The discomfort and threat which the tail-light 'teeth' bring do too. What is it that the traffic lights are giving permission to? by @joannamules

Anybody recognise this cheery little character and his horticultural tail fin? Supposedly a dolphin, but I've seen dolphins and am guessing whoever did the identification hadn't. Anyway, he and his many companions have been here in Belfast since 1840 when the cast-iron gas lamps came all the way from Scotland to grace the Queens Bridge, a splendid replacement structure able to cope with the ever-increasing traffic and still going strong. #castirondolphins #belfastbridgeni #quicksketchforsprigs #belfastniicon by @joannamules
