Highlights from Sam and Anthony’s rooftop wedding at @theskylarknyc that took place over Valentine's weekend! 🩷

A beautiful blend of traditions, they had a tea ceremony to honor Vietnamese heritage, and a western ceremony where they exchanged vows and rings in front of their guests.
Lots of love and lots of laughs exchanged, and I feel blessed to have been trusted by them to capture their beautiful celebration.

Something I find beautiful about weddings is that even though they follow the same formula, every wedding is completely different.

There’s no argument that there’s an overall structure to the day (hello timeline planning), a common presence of vendors, and some moments that happen at nearly every celebration (speeches/first dances/etc.)

At first you might think that’s limiting, but the beautiful testament to it all is just how truly unique each and every wedding still is.

No matter how you choose to structure your celebration, or who you choose to hire, your wedding will be 100% yours.

And I’m 100% here to support that. 😊

I might ruffle some feathers by saying this, but your Pinterest board does not guarantee the kind of wedding images you'll get, and you shouldn't want it to.

Let me explain.

A good photographer won't copy or try to mimic what they see on your board. Photography is art, and art is subjective. When you hire a photographer, you're hiring an artist, along with their creative eye, their perspective, and direction.

And here's the thing, your wedding won't be like anyone else's. Your guests, your family, your energy, your love, your moments - all of it influences the visual feel of your day. That's what ensures your wedding gallery is full of images that are uniquely and authentically yours.

Do I use Pinterest boards for inspiration? Absolutely. They're great for understanding your style and trying fun poses you're excited about. But it'll never be a 1-to-1 recreation, because everything about your wedding will and should be different.

Your photos should feel like your day, not someone else's. 🤍
