I love these photos @johnbeasley.ie took of me working. Most of the work I make is hand stitched. Sometimes I will use machine embroidery but then I will work on top by hand. I love the slow process and meditative nature of it. Adding more colors and marks until the piece reveals itself.

‘Machnamh’ appliqué and embroidery on wool blanket. I am busy finishing work for an upcoming exhibition at @newartgallery_boyle.
I got this blanket in charity shop in Dingle a few years ago. We had the exact same one in our home growing up! I am fascinated by how materials carry so much memory and I often wonder about the stories and energies they carry. Thanks as always to @johnbeasley.ie for the photograph.
