when i say SOUL, you say ESCAPE (:

oh how i miss this dearly.. there are not enough words to express how grateful i am for this incredible experience and these beautiful people. it’s already been wayyy too long since i’ve gotten to see a lot of these faces. i hope to dance with each and every one of them again soon !! they are all so talented and the most genuine people i’ve ever met— i truly do love and miss them all endlessly. thank you to everyone who was at soulescape this past summer; you all contributed so much love, authenticity, courage, and support to the atmosphere. i’m missing it all extra right now and just wanted to share some of the memories captured on film !! 🫀🫂🌻

and an extra thank you to justin, rose, sarah, camille, lauren, wales, sal, halley, courtney, and jenna for cultivating such a unique and welcoming environment. i learned so much from all of you and continue to grow with the wisdom and experiences you’ve given to me. you have all impacted me greatly as both a dancer and human being. i’m forever grateful !! 🫶🏼

more life; less rush

now, more than ever, i can get so caught up in what’s coming next, that i don’t even take a moment to truly live in the present. i’ll catch myself thinking about what chores i need to finish the second i get home after being out, who i need to catch up with as i’m catching up with other people, if what i’m choosing as a career path is going to be worth it in the end, or even what time BeReal. is going to go off and if i look “socially acceptable” to be posting about myself. i know that i’m not the only person who gets anxious, worries about the future, or has a busy schedule that they’re still learning to balance out, but incase someone needed a friendly reminder— just slow down and take it all in while you can. i know that’s definitely something i could’ve heard in the midst of it all when life seems like it’s a bit too much to handle, or at the start of any of my summers because before you know it, they always end so soon. i hope that this summer is filled with love, joy, and my incredible friends and family. as for whoever is reading this, i hope the same for you, and that we can be present together.

reminiscing on last weekend in lansing @dancemakersinc !! 💌

to my dance family : i’m so grateful to have been able to see you all perform on stage again and that i could dance with you too !! i am beyond proud of you all for pouring your hearts out on that stage, and for being vulnerable enough to do so. you guys never fail to make me smile or make it feel like home when i’m back with you; thank you 🫶🏼

@sethzibalese : ofc i missed dancing in your classes.. but i missed singing at the top of my lungs with you most :) thank you for always bringing joy and light into your classes (and the reminders of why we continue and love to dance ✨)

@hannaelisabeth : thank you for giving me the opportunity to share your choreography with the senior room; i loved dancing with you and totally wish that i would’ve been able to take classes from you sooner !! i love how genuine you are as both a person and dancer, and i hope to dance with you again soon 🫀

@channingcooke : i’ve missed you so much !! it was so great seeing you again and i’m beyond grateful to dance with you every time i get to. thank you for all of your love and support over the past couple of years; you have had such a huge impact on my life and continue to be an inspiration for it 🫂

grateful is definitely an understatement..

i am beyond proud to call these beautiful people my friends!! i am so thankful to have received the opportunity of dancing this piece again with them in the wrap it up ceremony at @dancemakersinc :) our group ended up being the judge’s top pick of the weekend!! thank you so much @channingcooke for choreographing this lovely piece. none of this would have been possible without your creativity, patience, and support. we all miss you and hope to dance with you again soon 🙌🏼 taken in Lansing, Michigan by @joceesnyder

one day at a time..

i’m learning how to love myself. i’ve never been great at appreciating my strengths or accomplishments. i often worry about what other people think of me, even if it seems like i have myself together. i try to come off as the type of person to not care, but i am scared that if i show i am proud of myself, i will come off as cocky. there is also fear that if i do not share my accomplishments, that i will come off as ungrateful or lazy. slowly, i am coming to the realization that my worth should not be based on the opinions of others. i am allowed to be proud of myself and love who i am. i know the things that i have achieved and that is enough for me. i don’t know if i will ever fully love myself, but i hope to grow more and find something to love everyday. if you’ve reached the end of this, thank you for sticking around :) i hope that whatever chapter you’re on in your life, you can find something to love about yourself <3

how’s it hanging? :) lol i wasn’t planning on posting this but my friends told me to because “no one really cares.” these pictures are not my best work, but they’re authentic. i shouldn’t have to care about what other people think of me as long as i’m doing what makes me happy. i stopped posting for so long because i feared what other people thought of me and how they perceived me. 2020 has brought on a lot of challenges for everyone. a big one for a few of my friends, family, and myself is mental health and self love care. i’m here to say it’s okay to take a break. we shouldn’t have to feel like we need to meet a certain standard to “fit in” or be considered “beautiful.” not to sound cheesy or anything but our differences are what make us unique and beautiful. you are all so important and part of a bigger picture. there is so much to live for, remember that. 🤍 by @joceesnyder
