A very different water ripple mood with the imagery being used for the Autumn Art Fair at the Landmark Arts Centre in Teddington in 10 days time (16-18th October). I'll be there (stand 22 - far aisle near the cafe) selling my impressionistic botanical prints, including this one called Glowing Curtain. Entry is £5 on the door (£4 concessions), but if you go online to pre-book tickets you can use the code 241ARTFAIR to get a Two-for-One ticket for over the weekend. This is just for pre-booking and can’t be used on the door.

Greening the City. Combining the structural shapes of modern architecture in London with the soft gentle leaves of a nearby tree, moving in the wind. Love the shapes and colours, but wondering whether I should have done more digital gardening to remove more branches. Might have taken days and lost the tree impression, so stopped, but might continue to play....Double exposure in camera

An impressionistic image of Crocosmia, taken today in the Climate Garden at Kew to celebrate World Photography Day. The Climate Garden, with its mass of hot, orangey colours, seemed appropriate in the heat. Happy World Photography Day! Photography has brought me so much joy and inspiration, a new way of seeing the world, a real appreciation and delight of Nature, creative fulfilment (and learning and development), and many wonderful and talented friends. This is an abstract taken at a pond in the Isabella Plantation in Richmond Park this week - camera movement and multiple exposure of some waterlilies. And for the last in this little series of Woodland Bathing, I focussed in on some of the intriguing shadow patterns on the paths. (Well not exactly focussed given my impressionistic style, but you know what I mean). Double exposures combined with green leaf patterns to create some natural abstracts. In my woodland walking, enjoying the dappled shade, and sense of movement in the breeze, one of the key things to strike me were all the different shades of green there were, all in perfect harmony, and the many different textures across the deciduous and evergreen trees. Wandering around Kew Gardens in the heat, the trees and woodland areas were particularly appealing. One lovely tree back-lit against the sun started me thinking about capturing these feelings. It led me to the Japanese practice of “Shinrin Yoku” – or Forest Bathing (or maybe in this case Woodland Bathing), which is immersing yourself in a mindful way in woodland and Nature to create a feeling of wellbeing. Peaceful, calming and uplifting are the feelings that Nature gives me, and the colour green is also associated with harmony and hope.
