Painters not bookkeepers, this isn’t a spreadsheet. Throw the equations out and paint like you trust yourself.

It’s varnish day for some of these portrait oil paintings. Reds dry slower so those sit longer in the studio. Also we did a photoshoot for my new cowgirl series and I snuck a few of myself in there. Not going to share my cowgirl models photos but believe me I am EXCITED for the paintings coming from them! Those I will show you!

Portrait painting series in oil and other materials used in the underdrawing. I want this series to be super fresh and alive. The initial sketch was kinda cool, messy, a little abstract and crazy with bold color. She wanted to stay bold so I tried to stick with the integrity of the sketch while adding form with the oil painting part of the process. So what do we think? I mean, I’m into these and liking them. Hope you are creating something you love too. I will have these available along with some other cool new paintings soon as they dry.

Oil Painting portraits for my fall painting series. All of these are available as I finish them and are dried. I decided not to do an all at once drop with these. Like everything I paint I start with an underdrawing, I like to keep it fresh and alive and this is how i love to do just that. I am aiming for 100 portraits by Halloween. I am not totally committed to having them all painted by then but sketched out and ready to paint yes! How about you guys are you doing any fun challenges for October? I want to know!! Share please!

A new art addition—this one a small oil painting by SLC artist @jodilynnlee. "Good" called to me because of the subject's auburn bob, her warm smile lines, and the light bouncing off her unfairly youthful cheeks—just a few of the physical attributes I love about my mom and her mom, my late Grandma Norma. I saw this lovely painting and knew I wanted it for my kitchen, where I often try (and fail) to emulate two very special redheads.

Thanks to Jodi for such a special artwork and personable purchase experience. I promise it will receive daily smiles and witness many happy gatherings! 🤎 by @jodilynnlee

Trying some underdrawing portraits with these acrylic markers by sharpie. I’m also using watercolor marker by Winsor and Newton. Nothing here is an ad, just messing around with them. I will paint over my underdrawing with oils after I seal them leaving some of the drawing marks showing.
The best way to be more decisive in drawing is to use marker or pen!

Just a peek into the painting process on a commission piece that I am loving. Layer by layer and just enough texture she will get there. #painting #oilpainting #fineartpainting #artist #process by @jodilynnlee
