Tomorrow 5pm (Sunday 13 September), I’m joining @drjesswalk and the Solem Quartet at Live at St Giles (Camberwell) to officially launch ‘La Solitude’, our album of songs celebrating the extraordinary French singer-songwriter Barbara. All in arrangements by me, with Jess’ amazing English translations of Barbara’s stream-of-consciousness lyrics. Jess and I have been performing these songs for years, so to have finally recorded them, and to be accompanied by the golden tones of the Solems has been a special honour. Tickets still available for this special one-off event! (See bio) Would be lovely to have a good crowd at the this one! by @joe_atkins

@drjesswalk and I have been performing songs by the amazing Barbara for over 10 years, many of which are in Jess' beautiful English versions. It's a privilege to commit these to disc with @resonusclassics, and to have been able to expand some of my arrangements to include the sensational @solemquartet and @meg.glover.sax. This album is very close to our hearts and we'll be performing it, alongside works by Brel, Brassens and Nadia Boulanger at St Giles, Camberwell on 13 Sept. The Solems will be joining us, and Jess and I are even writing a new song for the occasion! Tickets are at: https://www.liveatstgiles.com/events/sep26-jessica-walker-la-solitude (The video is from our live show of 'La Solitude', filmed back in November by Vidda Le Feber) by @joe_atkins

A few short extracts from @drjesswalk and I's cabaret song cycle, SCENE UNSEEN coming to @queerscore THIS Saturday, 11th April at 7:15pm @hoxtonhall. An unclassifiable, moving music and theatre experience...a musical memoir...a dreamlike stream-of-consciousness. “original, thought-provoking, and funny with a refreshing new slant on gender identity” Musical Theatre Review: 5⭐ “Walker….sings with a spontaneity that perfectly dovetails with Atkins’ composition” The Reviews Hub by @joe_atkins
