Probably our biggest signing to date? We are very pleased to welcome @joe_joecurran to the Team HUP squad.

“As a beginner rider who’s only been cycling for 23 years, I’m surprised my potential has been spotted so early. I’m sure it’s on my own merit and nothing to do with the fact @graceinglis is already on the team? The team seem ok, for lycra types…”

Another Scottish resident rider, Joe plans to hit the cyclocross hard on selected North East series and @scottishcx rounds, NT and Belgium on his HUP evo2’s.

On a recent training session @keithstockercoaching was spotted quietly asking Joe for some tips on sand. Praise indeed 🤷‍♂️

Keen to get back into Cross, life in the Tweed Valley on his mountain bike, means it won’t take long, even if there is no sand 💪

The cross races over Christmas in Belgium were an amazing experience and the time between races was made great by the people who came out at short notice to join us for new year. Great opportunity for some uncle-ing.

🚨Cyclocross community appreciation post 🚨

"Let's pop down to Bradford and do a cross race" turned out to be more complicated than it sounds.

What a day. We haven't really done any cyclocross but immediately felt welcomed and part of the community. So many people helped during the day we can't thank everyone enough.

Firstly a quick thanks to Grace from me, for putting up with no bar tape, mismatched bikes, last minute stress and only one set of mud tires but still somehow managed to pull it off. Legend.

As for everyone else, there is no way this could have happened without help.

Thank you.

We arrived at the race and I went to put some freshly serviced pedals on and realised I had installed the axles the wrong way round. Paul and HopeTech to the rescue with a set to use for the day 🙏

Thanks to Shibden for organising a great race despite all the difficulties. Clearly a lot of hard work involved but everything appeared to run without a hitch 🙏

After seeing the epic conditions it quickly became clear that our tiny pressure washer and tiny water container wasn't going to cut it. Thanks to Kacey and Helen for lending us the pressure washer. Even though Kacey wasn't racing they stayed around and got stuck in with washing and refilling water. I've never been in the pits washing bikes before, so this was a baptism of fire with changes every lap and the help was much appreciated 🙏

Thanks to Richard for showing me the ropes and catching the muddy bikes. You woke me up mid-daydream more than once and avoided embarrassing missed bike changes 🙏

Alex and Harriet made sure Grace had what she needed at the start while I was neck deep in mud 🙏

Someone lent a pressure gauge at some point, think it was Eilish but I was flustered and can't remember 🙏

Giles sorted out some Allen keys and useful advice 🙏

The car wouldn't start after the race so thanks to "Mark" and family (Sorry, didn't catch surname! Get in touch!) who delayed leaving to help out. Also thanks to Ester and family for giving us a jump start 🙏

To top it off I managed to put diesel in the poor little clio on the way home 🙄🙄 so it was a late one.

Throwing on the mud tires waaay in advance as it will take about 3 days to clean up afterwards.
