I am truly honored and humbled to have received an official proclamation from the City of Houston, recognizing the years of service, volunteerism, and commitment to community that have been such an important part of my journey.

March 16 has officially been proclaimed
Mr. James Perryman and the Joe Finn Collection Day in Houston, Texas.

When I started Joe Finn, I never imagined that one day I would stand in front of Houston City Hall holding a proclamation bearing my name and the name of the company I built in honor of my father.

But what makes this recognition especially meaningful is why it was given.

Over the years, we’ve tried to serve wherever there was a need—from food and clothing drives to disaster relief, supporting families, providing grooming services, and simply doing what we could to help people in our communities.

None of it was done for recognition.

It was done because I believe that success means very little if you aren’t using some of it to serve somebody else.

I’m grateful to Mayor John Whitmire and the City of Houston for this extraordinary honor. I’m grateful to everyone who has volunteered beside me, supported Joe Finn, believed in the vision, donated, showed up, and helped us give back.

And I’m especially grateful for the two people whose legacy is woven into Joe Finn—my father, Joe Finn, whose name I carry through this company, and my mother, Joyce, whose roots in Orange, Texas inspired the orange that has become part of our identity.

I accept this proclamation with tremendous gratitude—but also with the understanding that recognition comes with responsibility.

The work continues. The giving continues. The legacy continues.

Joe Finn carries my family’s story

I named the company after my father, Joe Finn. The orange honors my mother, Joyce, who was born in Orange, Texas.

The journey began in a barber’s chair. Listening to my clients led me to create grooming products in 2016. That same drive to make something thoughtful and lasting eventually led me to leather travel goods.

I’m grateful to Voyage Houston for giving me the space to share how it started. Since this interview, Joe Finn has continued to grow into AN AMERICAN TRAVEL HOUSE—rooted in family, craftsmanship, and the belief that what you carry should mean something.
