I still remember the day my uncle, Ronald Pettus, read this to my 11th grade history class. It struck a chord in me that day and has stayed with me all these years. I repost it every Memorial Day in remembrance of those who made the ultimate sacrifice so that I can live the way I want, worship how I want, and say what I want. Today it seems more important than ever that we take up the quarrel to insure our right to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. Take up the torch of freedom and hold it high today and everyday in remembrance of those men and women who gave all!! God bless the USA! 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸 by @joelhamner

Can someone please explain to me why our current elected officials in Alabama are so anti public education? I am not anti private school. Laura and I paid for our daughters to attend private school from K-8th grade WITHOUT TAX PAYER DOLLARS! We made the decision and we made the sacrifice. I am a product of public education. The foundation I was provided at Brooks Elementary and High School is the basis for my current success. This year $150,000,000 million in taxpayer dollars will be given to parents for kids to attend private school! Next year, $200,000,000 and the following year $250,000,000! Lauderdale County has not built a new high school since 1969!! Imagine what Lauderdale County could do an extra $5,000,000 in state funding! If you want your kids to go to private school, great I support you completely, but YOU PAY FOR IT LIKE I DID, not with public tax dollars. by @joelhamner

Hunted the North Platte River Valley in western Nebraska last couple of days. Ducks and geese were tough as it was colder in Alabama than in Nebraska! We hunted hard and scratched out a couple! Had a great afternoon pheasant hunting! Met Bob Argent and Tyler Argent in 2008 in Arkansas and we have been chasing feathers together ever since! Introduced Andrew Hurt (who is now known and will forever more be deemed Little Gravy!) to the sickness of duck hunting! Sorry my friend, it’s an incurable addiction!! by @joelhamner

This summer while in London, I had the opportunity to spend a day at Purdey with my dear friend, Nick Harlow. Purdey started manufacturing guns in 1814 and in 1868 received a Royal Warrant from Queen Victoria to be the exclusive gun maker for the Crown. I have held guns manufactured for several kings and several prime ministers, most notably King George VI, Prince Phillip, King Charles, and Winston Churchill to name a few. This summer when I received an invitation to shoot driven birds with Purdey at The Goodwood Estate, I was completely surprised and deeply honored. Through the sporting life, Laura and I have made great friends throughout the world. This entire group of great shooters welcomed this “Alabama boy” with open arms and made a once in a lifetime day even more special. Cheers!! by @joelhamner
