I never played soccer growing up… but Jaxon LOVES it. And watching your son fall in love with something you never played yourself? That’s a different kind of joy.

Then I found out Kobe played both basketball AND soccer growing up… and I was AMPED. 😂🔥 Like, okay Jaxon… I see what’s happening here!

I don’t have to teach him everything I know. Sometimes my job as a father is simply to give him the space, support and confidence to discover what he loves.

Respect comes with this name. 🫡

Joe Nickson. The Idea Man.

Then life throws me a Netflix character named Joe Nixon — a Black CCO in advertising — while my real-life story includes Joe Nickson, advertising, and 72andSunny.

So naturally… I had to investigate. 😂👀

I reached out to the actual writer,, and his response made the whole thing even crazier:

The character wasn’t originally an advertising executive.
He was originally written as a dentist with three kids.

The advertising angle and the last name Nixon came later.

So I’m not making an accusation.

I’m appreciating the creative coincidence.

Joe Nixon.
Joe Nickson.
Advertising.
72 Hours.
72andSunny.

You really can’t write this stuff. 😂

Flowers for Fathers 🌻💙

They say, “It takes a village to raise a child.”
But sometimes the village forgets to celebrate the fathers helping build it.

So I created Flowers for Fathers — a simple mantra with a powerful message:

Don’t wait until Dad is gone to give him his flowers. 🌻

Jaxon gives me plenty of reasons to keep showing up, learning, growing and leading by example. Every book we read, every bath, every conversation, every laugh, every lesson — these are the moments that matter.

Fatherhood isn’t about being perfect.
It’s about being present.

And if we want stronger families, stronger communities and stronger men, maybe it’s time we start celebrating fathers while they’re here, while they’re trying, and while they’re doing the work.

Give Dad his flowers. While he can still smell them. 🌻

ATTITUDE OF GRATITUDE. 🙏🏾🎂

Another year around the sun.

And honestly… this one came with some turbulence.

But turbulence has a way of teaching you what smooth skies never could.

One of my biggest lessons this year: protect your reputation, protect your character, and never lose your moral compass trying to navigate someone else’s agenda.

The 48 Laws of Power talks about the importance of guarding your reputation.

Life taught me there’s another layer:

Your reputation is what people say about you.
Your character is who you are when they’re not saying anything.

That distinction matters.

So I’m taking this next chapter with a simple philosophy:

L.E.G. — Learn. Evolve. Grow.

Learn from it.
Evolve through it.
Grow beyond it.

I’m grateful for the wins.
Grateful for the losses.
Grateful for the people who showed up.
And even grateful for the situations that showed me who—and what—not to carry forward.

July 6th 2020 9:31 pm my life forever changed. My son Jaxon was born.Six years ago, you gave my life a new purpose.

The day you were born, you didn’t just become my son—you unleashed my greatest superpower: being your dad.

Every laugh, every lesson, every hug, every milestone has shaped me just as much as I’ve tried to shape you. Watching you grow into the kind, fearless, curious, and brilliant little boy you’re becoming has been the greatest privilege of my life.

No matter where life takes us, know this: you’ll always have a father who believes in you, fights for you, and loves you beyond words.
